Dubai, Mar 15: As announced earlier on Daijiworld, ‘Mangalore Konkans Dubai’ will organize ‘Konkani Prathibha Spordho’, a singing contest for the young and old, on Friday April 30 at the Dubai Gem Private School-Dubai (opp K M Trading) from 9.00 am to 8.00 pm.

The competition will also select six top singers in the male and female category in the over 18-year-old group to qualify for the semi-finals of ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore’ to be held in October 2010.

The objective of the talents day is to create a platform for encouragement of talent within the Konkani community and to create awareness of the enormous budding talent available in the UAE, according to Mangalore Konkans press release.

    Please advice if professional singers (Nite, Band, cassette) singers are allowed to to participate. if yes then it can be demotivating. Please advice.

    My daughter is 16 years, she is interested in konkany singing. but there is no age group for her age is given in the registration form. Can she participate in 13 to 15 group?

    By March end all the children will complete their exams. 10th, 11th & 12th children are free. They can participate in the singing competition. Please keep the age group for 16 & 17 years. They have April one full month to prepare for the singing competition.

    Dear Organisers, please note the date announced is 30 april. On this date the First holy communion is scheduled in Abu Dhabi, Fujairah etc.. This will restrict the people in taking part.

    The age mentioned in years is not clear... for eg.. 13-15 yrs.. that means above 13yrs and below 15yrs?? What about above 15yrs and below 18 yrs??
    Request for detailed explanation of age group please.
