Women Wing of Billavara Association Celebrates Women’s Day

The equality of men and women indeed makes a perfect society.  Without the women, the society seems to be incomplete. The women in their quest for equality are excelling in every sphere of life, which has reduced the cases of dowry menace and physical abuse, said Asha M Hegde executive president of metro-based Bunts Sangh. 

She was speaking after inaugurating International Women’s Day celebrations, held at Billava Bhavan, Santacruz (East), here on Monday March 8, by women wing of metro’s Billavar Association. The women play major role in decision-making that has proved her versatility in solving various issues. The women in general should have the objective of creating women-centered society by educating women. The women from different communities collectively show the mite of Indian women to the rest of the world, urged Asha.

 
All India Billava Federation president and Billavar Association president Jaya C Suvarna presided. Association executive president Y Nagesh, entrepreneur Momitha Harish Amin, social worker Suguna K Kamath, stage artiste Arusha N Shetty and Professor Nirmala Sanil were present.
 
Momitha Amin said that the cultured women collectively can create a better society based on Indian values and traditions.
 
Suguna Kamath said that the women of Tulunadu are embodied with compassion and empathy regardless of caste, creed and religion. The doctrine of Guru Narayan should inspire women, in order to strive towards brining about reforms in the society, she said.
 
Association women wing executive president Jayanti V Ullal welcomed the gathering.  Honorary chief secretary Suvarna delivered the introductory address. Susheela and Mohini offered the prayers. Sumalatha Amin proposed the vote of thanks. Secretary Laxmi N Kotian compered the programme.
 
The office-bearers of Baba Ramdev screened the slide show on spirituality and meditation for the benefit of women at the occasion. Various dance items were also staged by the community children.
