Mangaluru, Jul 17: As people await with bated breath a human vaccine against coronavirus amid home remedies suggested by different people, a Congress councillor of Ullal municipality has come up with a novel recipe to tackle the virus, rum and half-fried eggs, sunny side up.

Ravichandra Gatti's recommendation to beat coronavirus through a video had went viral before Thursday.

In the video, he had announced that coronavirus does not go near people who have consumed Khodays rum. His advice has now been receiving criticism all around.

With a bottle of liquor in hand, he has created his video giving the above advice, and uploaded the same in social media. He has claimed that he does not drink but gave advice to the common people to have Khodays rum.

There have also been a few who have come in support of him.

Many have questioned Ravi for encouraging people to have liquor to get cured of coronavirus infection. People point out that this is a wrong message and crime under the Excise Act. They also are concerned that small children who watch this video might feel that liquor cures corona and therefore may consume liquor.

In the video, Ravi is seen saying that Khodays rum mixed with pepper powder should be consumed along with two half boiled eggs smeared with pepper powder in order to stop coronavirus from bothering them. "I do not drink, not even consume fish. But what I am saying is based on experience. Therefore, there is no need to be afraid of coronavirus. You go ahead, and drink Khodays rum," he is seen advising the people.

In the past, a video made by Ravi against MLA U T Khader, had become viral. He has sense of humour. During the previous municipal election, he had fought from the Congress ticket as the BJP had refused him ticket, and had won the election.

Many say that Gatti being a people's representative, is wrong in encouraging people to consume liquor even if he has done so for fun.

Senior Congress leader Ugrappa declined to comment on the party worker's video while UT Khader was not reachable on phone.

Ghatti's phone was unreachable whereas he was last active on his Whatsapp account on Tuesday evening.
