Udupi, Mar 1: Fifty-five blind students from Bangalore started out on a five-day tour of pilgrimage centres of Karnataka such as Sringeri, Horanadu, Subramanya, Dharmasthala, Udupi, Anegudde, Kollur, Hattiangady, Murdeshwar, Gokarna, and other temples.

The pilgrims began their journey from Bangalore on Saturday February 27 and will return after visiting various pilgrimage centers by Wednesday March 3.

This is a humanitarian deed organized by Bangalore-based G Janardan Charitable Trust chairman and city-based U D Group president G Janardan.

Speaking to media persons, Janardan said that even the blind have their own fantasy world.  “They are like everyone else in the society and not to be neglected.  Therefore, in order to show the compassion towards them, the pilgrimage tour has been organized”, he added.

“The blind have an inner strength unmatched to able bodies. They can also lead life like everyone else.  The pilgrimage tour has been an attempt to bring a ray of hope to those unfortunate souls.  The authorities of Samarthanam Trust, Bangalore, have allowed their inmates to fulfill the humanitarian deed perceived by G Janardan Charitable Trust”, said Janardan.
