Dubai, Mar 1: The first Tulu telefilm, Jokulatike, a comedy presented under the banner of Ananya by Sai Krishna M in association with UAE Tulukoota, Dubai is coming here on Friday April 16. The telefilm that has entertained thousands of Tuluvas in India is coming to UAE and will be featured at the Elite English Speaking School, Near Century Mall, Abu Hail, Deira here at 4.00 pm. 

All leading tulu drama artists of Mangalore form part of the cast to assure that the viewers can enjoyable an entertainment-filled evening. Jothish Shetty, producer of the telefilm has put in all the efforts and assures that it will be a memorable experience, much higher than that of the entertainment quotient for tulu dramas we have witnessed here.

This is one of the many programmes lined up to celebrate 20th year of the formation of UAE Tulukoota Dubai, a socio-cultural organization of Tuluvas. It is one of the leading organizations in UAE formed by like-minded Tuluvas under the leadership of C R Shetty to promote and encourage talents of people from Tulunadu, coastal region of Karnataka, India. 

Tulu speaking populace from the districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi who are residing in UAE, have abundant talent, always looking for some avenue to express and exhibit their talent in various fields, be it sports, drama or cultural programmes. UAE Tulukoota, Dubai is providing common platform for such activities in UAE since 1990.


Coastal Karnataka, particularly undivided Dakshina Kannada district is one of the oldest examples for “unity in diversity” where in all religions, caste and creed harmoniously co-exist from thousands of years. Even though their mother tongue varies from Tulu, Kannada, Konkani, Urdu, Beary, to Kodava, one common thread that has held them together for thousands of years is the local language “Tulu”. Tulu is not just a language; but a way of life for over 5 million people of coastal Karnataka region. 

UAE Tulukoota Dubai is contributing in its own way to promote tulu culture and heritage in UAE which is appreciated by all tuluvas in the region. Biannual Tulu Parba is one such event every tuluva in UAE is eagerly waiting to participate wherein a festival atmosphere is created to take the journey of Tulunadu and rekindle their hometown memories.

Besides encouraging the local talents, UAE Tulukoota Dubai also recognizes the talent in their home turf, invite them to UAE to give them international exposure as well as provide an opportunity to Tuluvas in UAE to enjoy such events and programmes. In the past 20 years UAE Tulukoota Dubai has invited many Tulu Drama Troupes from Mangalore and hosted quite a number of popular Tulu dramas in UAE.

    We ( the people of undivided DK disrict) should support tulu progrmmes.bcz tulu is d common language all in our disrict.compare to keralites our unity is very weak.so we have to unite together by arranging the cultural,entertiment and other good programes in our local languages.
