Mangalore: Joyful Confluence of Community Members at Jain Milan

Mangalore, Feb 28: Jain Milan, a meeting of Jain community members spread across Dakshina Kannada districts, Udupi, North Kannada districts up to Karwar and Chickmagalur districts was held at the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College auditorium here on Sunday February 28.

Jain Milan women’s wing president Anitha Surendra Kumar inaugurated the meet, which is an annual feature organized for inter mingling of the community members and thereby foster development of the community and society. Dr. S.K. Jain, famous for his programme on astrology in Udaya TV and editor of Kalachakra Ephemeris delivered the endowment lecture.















Dr Jain spoke on the relationship between science and astrology. He stressed that astrology is a science is not a mere vague calculation. 

State Apex Bank president M N Rajendra Kumar released a souvenir, Mangalore Milana on the occasion. Zonal president M S Mrityunjaya presided. Former union minister Dhananjay Kumar, Veena S K Jain and Pushparaj Jain were among others present.  

Jain Milans from various divisions were given an opportunity to showcase their talent through cultural programme. 

The valedictory ceremony was presided by D Rajendra Kumar of Dharmasthala. Moodbidri-Mulki MLA Abhayachandra Jain was the chief guest. The prizes were distributed to the participants in the cultural programme. Rajesh M and Sanath Kumar Jain compered the programme.

    When we blindly follow the West, this type of celebrations remind us of the wealth of our culture. Look at our youth in educational institutes, they think wearing suit is the "honorable and noblest" thing. Look at our high school and collage girls, the manner they dress is a disgrace to our culture. Do not women think and feel that we have borrowed Western culture too much that too within a too short period of time?
    The rich have blindly copied the West and even the poor are under pressure indirectly.

    It was very nice and heartening to see that most of the dignitaries in the function were dressed like traditional south kanarites and not imitating western or north indian fashions. Congratulations to Jain milan and Jain leaders. May they spread the message of tolerance and ahimsa throughout the land (and the whole world!)
