Dubai, Feb 27: Billawas Dubai & Northern Emirates a registered active organization for Billawas in UAE concluded their Annual Sports Meet 2010 held at Sharjah Wanderers Sports Club, Sharjah on Friday the 26th February, 2010.  There were more than 450 active Billawas from all over who willingly and whole heartedly participated in the days programme.  It was also nice to see Abu Dhabi Billawa Balaga members present with Chief Convenor Manohar Thonse, Ramesh Suvarna, Praveen Boloor, Shankar Amin and many others joined in the occasion.

The programme started at around 10.30 AM with forming 7 groups with seven different flags who were lead by the winners of 2008 Yogish & Deepa Jagannath by lighting the torch while Mr. & Mrs. Sunder Poojary parents of the well known RJ Harsha Poojary opening up the programme by cutting the ribbon.  There was an oath taking ceremony with the Sports Committee raising their right hand took oath promising free and fair event. Soon as per the tradition there was a coconut breaking game done by the Chief Guest with which the groups lead by the winners of 2008 holding the torch took a round the ground while we could see people clapping and cheering up.  Mohan Attavar, President of Billawas Dubai & N.E. welcomed the crowd while Pravin Attavar, Vice President and other committee members were also present.  Also present were Sports Secretary Purshottam Salian who opened up the event while General Secretary Madhav Poojary, Yogita Salian, Yogish and other members of the Sports Team were with him.














As scheduled the day long event went through out with variety of games including Running race for both children, men and women, Ball throw, Chocolate race for girls, Aiming the wicket, ball in the bucket, One leg race, Steady jump, Balancing the book, Penalty kick, Shot put for both men and women.  There were some fun games such as Bowl out tournament, 3 legged race, Human Wheel Barrow, Relay Race, Slow Cycle race, etc.  One of the event which was enjoyed by every one was a new game introduced a game with tender coconut which was just like the rugby game.  All the public who attended whole heartedly participated with full of enthusiastic and enjoyed the day long event. One should appreciate the young and newly married Billawas family who actively participated in each and every event to make it colourful.

There were stalls of Tea, Masala, Water, Juices, Snacks etc., but one will never forget two great stalls out of which the one arranged by Prabhakar Suvarna, Ganesh Urwa & their team known as ‘Gajjigiri Nandana’ Hotel serving fresh Fish Fry, Chicken Sukka, Kori Rotty, Tender Coconut, Banana, Eggs in different forms, Snacks etc. which was truly a traditional one ever seen in this soil.  The evening snacks comprised of Baje, Podi and other snacks which was tasted and appreciated by the crowd attended.  People flocked to taste every bit of it while close to it was a stall of home medicine by Pandit Vaman Poojary with samples of various homely medicines.

A sumptuous lunch was arranged for all the attendees in the noon which was sponsored by various Billawa Committee Members.

During the event MC Shodhan Prasad appealed to the people gathered about an emergency help required for a Muslim brethren from Kundapur whose eleven months old son is fighting for his life in a hospital in Dubai and who required urgent medical help.  It was really good to know that all those who gathered whole heartedly contributed and an amount of Dhs.4,000/- was immediately collected within a fraction of a minute and was handed over to the parent of the patient during the event.  Ayyub Saheb father of the patient thanked the crowd for their generosity and kind help.

After the lunch cession was a Tambola game jointly conducted by RJ Harsha & Shodhan with humour touch.  This continued with the afternoon cession of the event with variety games.













One should really appreciate that the whole event was superbly conducted, team wise, headed respectively by Prabhakar Poojary, Ganesh Kotian Vasanth Thumbe, Deepak S.P., Satish Poojary, Yogesh Kumar, Shrikanth Sanil, Manoj Bolar, Deepa Jagannath, Sudhakar Poojary, Satish Ullal, Sunil Kumar, Prakash Poojary, Sunitha Poojary, Suvarna Satish, Gayathri Madhav Poojary, Jayashree Sudhakar, Deepa Jagannath, Jagannath Bellare, Krishna Poojary, Suresh Amin, Uday Kumar, Anil Kumar, Nisha Sudhir, Shrilatha Yogesh, Sunitha Poojary, Smitha Uday, Yogita Salian, Shuba, Rajani Jeevan, Nivedita, Mohan Attavar, Purshottam Salian, Praveen Attavar & Anand Bailoor.

Jyothi Deepak, Nindiya Prasad, Shuba Bolar, Sunitha Poojary, Suvarna Satish & Usha Ganesh were at the Registration Desk and updating information as required.

Billawas Dubai & NE Team comprising of Satish Poojary, Madhav Poojary, Nagaraj Poojary, Praveen Attavar, Jagannath Bellare, Sudhakar Poojary, Prabhakar Poojary, Yogeesh, Satish Ullal, Jayanand Kunder, Sunita, Ganesh Kotian, Ganesh Urwa, Vaman Poojary, Vittal Poojary, Anand Bailoor, Jathan, Suresh Amin and all the members of Billawas Dubai & N.E. volunteered the programme with enthusiastic and vigor.

Purshottam Salian, Sports Secretary and in charge of the whole event had arranged the programme on behalf of BDNE as scheduled and has resulted in real success.

Yogita Salian announced the winners who were Shamit Suvarna, Shreeesha Kanangi, Diviti Deepak, Bhoomika Poojary, Shreya Kanangi, Satvick Charan, Smrutik Kuckian, Vineet Poojary, Gauri Thumbe, Tanvi Harish, Ritesh Kuckian, Shravan Kumar, Purvi Karkera, Nidhi Kuckian, Raksha Salian, Tharun Kumar, Suhan Attavar,  Nitesh Krishna, Yatiraj Kunder, Joshna Karkera, Nivedita Poojary, Nitesh Kishna Kumar, Yatiraj Kunder, Tharun Kumar, Ajit Poojary, Dhananjay Kunder, Jayashree Sudhakar, Smita Uday, Deepa Jagannath, Smitha Thonse, Nisha Sudhir, Anand P., Tharun Kumar, Ajit Poojary, Anand P., Ajit Poojary, Naveen Salian, Suresh Yadav, Shiyani,Manju, Jayalakshmi, Manoj, Deepak, Suresh, Ramanad , Deepak, Tharun, Anand, Navin Salian, Jagannath, Shiyani, Amita, Manju, Jayalakshmi,Ramanand, Shiyani, Neeta, Monappa. Sachita, and many others who have been handed over the programme gifts.

The whole programme was ably conducted by Yogita Salian & Shodhan Prasad who kept the enthusiastic members on their toes till the end of the programme which got concluded at around 6.30 pm

    I have not seen such kind of unity or get together in Billawas, especially in DUBAI its rare to see the community people "GET TOGETHER", many of them in Dubai unaware of Billawa Association,
    so member should be proactive to reach each Dubai billawas at 1st.

I too agree with Ms Chandrika suvarna that Mr Kamat's coverage was quiet Good, but many more famous personalities are still missing from the coverage if possible i would request Mr Kamat to add more snaps so that people will enjoy more on surfing Daiji World.

    BDNE sports day was a great day for me as well BDNE members and their families. The whole program was successfull. there is no doubt in success, if we all work together. Entire credit should go to the sports couple Mr. Purushotham & Mrs. Yogitha purushotham and their team. the program was well organised.     Very nice event, fully enjoyed, very good coverage by Daiji. Normally time is wasted in felicitaing on grounds and parks which very few people are interesed. We had so much of time to interact act with all members both old and new. We should have such events every year. This is a humble request to the BDNE committe and thanks for organising such an event.

    Very well organised sports event, 45 committe members managing the 400 plus crowd and each and every one from Abudhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Al-Ain, Ajman, Fujairah, RAK and even OMAN enjoying every moment great and to add to it a charity as well.
