Dammam, Feb 24: Blue Stars, Dammam defeated Al Anwaar Cricketers by four wickets wickets to win the DCA Six a Side Knockout Cricket Tournament, Larren Trophy sponsored by Ivan Pinto and family played at Rakha ground facilities here, recently.
Al Anwaar won the toss and elected to bat first and lost their opener, Majeed in the fist ball of the match brilliantly caught by Iqbal and lost their second wicket in the second over when the score was ten. At the stage Blue Stars bowlers took full command and did not allow Al Anwaar batsmen to settle down. They lost their wickets frequently and were all-out for 35 in 3.5 overs. Abdul scored 11 runs and Shero scored 9 runs.
In reply Blue Stars opener captain Hyder and Iqbal played sensibly and put on 13 in the first over, after the fall of Hyder’s wicket Muthalib joined Iqbal and played responsible innings and achieved the target in 3.1 overs. Blue Stars defeated Al Alnwaar by four wickets.
Iqbal of Blue Stars was judged man of the match finals for his excellent bowling, batting and fielding performances.
The other awards are Rifkan of Cools, best batsman, Abdul of Al Anwaar, best bowler, Zulfi of Cools, best wicket-keeper, Iqbal of Blue Stars, - best ourfielder and Mutalib of Blue Stars man of the tournament.
Prior to the final, Al Anwaar defeated Amaco Jubail by 13 runs in the first semifinals. Al Anwaar made 71, Rajesh scored 25, Majeed 20 and Abdul 14. For Amaco Nazir took three wickets. In reply Amaco openers put on 25 runs in the first two over and after opener Imran, good striker of the ball got out, Nazeer too fell consequently making no runs. After this Amaco batsman failed to achieve the target and managed to just score 58 in their allotted over. Nayaz scored 19 and Imran scored 16.
In the second semifinals Blue Stars defeated Cools cricketers by three wickets. Batting first Cools put on a commendable total of 74 in their allotted over. Rifkan scored 25, Iswaan 14 and Ali scored 13. In reply Blue Stars lost their first wicket when the score was 15. Then all-rounder Mutalib joined Iqbal and played magnificently and took his team to thrilling victory. Mutalib remained not out on 36 well supported by iqbal, who made 12.
Chief Guest and sponsor of the tournament Ivan Pinto witnessed the finals and DCA president Ashok was present. In all 32 teams participated from Dammam, Khobar, Jubail and Seihat in the matches that were conducted for the period of two weeks.
