Dubai : Chennaveera Kanavi to Preside Over Gulf Kannada Literary Convention

Dubai, Feb 23: Dhwani Prathistana to mark its Silver Jubilee celebrations will organize the first ever ‘Gulf Kannada Sahithya Sammelana'(Kannada literary convention) in Dubai Gem Private School Auditorium, Dubai, on 23 April 2010.
In a press note, president of Dhwani Pratishthana, Prakash Rao Payyar has informed that eminent senior poet Dr Chennaveera Kanavi has been elected to preside over the convention. Various scholars, writers, artistes and social personalities from Karnataka and Gulf will participate in the whole daylong event from 10.00 a.m. till 6.30 p.m.
The convention will have two symposiums on the various stages of Evolution of Kannada Literature, one session to discuss the problems of Gulf Kannadigas and a poetic session. There will be magnificent cultural and entertainment events performed by well known guest artists from Karnataka. Entry will be free for all Kannada enthusiasts and sumptuous food will be served.
Dhwani Pratishthana was established in 1985 by likeminded people who had interests in Kannada literature and theatre in Mumbai, and all through these twenty five years, it has conducted unique literary and cultural programs including theatre activities in Kannada.
All Kannada related associations of UAE are requested to participate in this historical event.
