Gadag: Sahitya Sammelana Ends sans Controversies

Gadag, Feb 21 (DHNS ): The three-day Kannada literary fest ‘the 76th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana’ concluded here on a happy note on Sunday, without any controversies that dogged the earlier Sammelanas.

For three days, the sleepy town of Gadag saw Kannada literary stalwarts discuss on various subjects, including Kannada filmdom, federal system, agriculture, women's problems, Karnataka's environment, folklore, and others.  The book exhibition at the Sammelana was also a hit, with book lovers thronging nearly 100 book stalls put up at the venue.

Resolutions passed

Earlier in the day on Sunday, the Sammelana passed three resolutions. The first one was to pressure the government to provide permanent solution to the flood situation haunting various districts in the State every year.

The second was to exert pressure on the government to implement all the resolutions of the past 75 Sammelanas, a majority of which are yet to be implemented.

It was also decided to form a ‘resolution implementation committee’ in the Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) to see that the resolutions were implemented. Addressing the valedictory, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa announced that the second Vishwa Kannada Sammelana would be held in Belgaum in February 2011.

He also announced that Rs 25 crore would be sanctioned for the development of Gadag City in next three years, and Rs five crore would be released for the construction of Gadag District Sahitya Bhavan in memory of the Sammelana held here. He also instructed the authorities concerned to start the Bhavan construction work immediately and to complete the works within a year.

Rehabilitation works

He said construction of new houses for the flood-affected people and relocation of flood-hit villages would be completed before the commencement of the next year. Attempts would be made to tide over the power crisis in the State by purchasing power from other States, and by generating 5,000 MW of power in the State in coming days, he said.

"The State government has urged the Centre to sanction all facilities required for the development of Kannada as the language has been accorded the classical language status. The State government has also taken steps to protect Kannada land, language, and culture," Yeddyurappa added. The CM also promised to make honest efforts to implement the resolutions passed by the Sahitya Sammelana.

District in-charge Minister B Sriramulu, PWD Minister C M Udasi, Leader of Opposition in Assembly S Siddaramaiah, former minister K H Patil, Sammelana President Geeta Nagabhushan, literary critic C P Krishnakumar and Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Nallur Prasad R K were present on the occasion.

I dont agree with Prakash Leema's statement that BJP is wrong in giving money to Hindu temples. We need to know that these temples are under the Govt. control and the Govt. generates a lot of revenue from these temples. Please understand the system and comment.

    hi,prakash Leema, Bhatkal ,

    Dear Prakash,
Its the 'SAADHANE' of BJP for conducting Sahithya Sammelena. However BJP GOVT. is setting up new industries, getting Jobs for fresher’s, economical growth etc. BJP is giving full authority to bureucrats for giving money to development etc. we are proud on BJP that above things are happening in Kernataka. Grow up and read some good economic contents papers instead of CONGRESS Supportive papers . TAKE CARE BHATKAL IS THE HUB OF SMUGGLING & TERRORIST ACTIVITY.JAI HO.

Mr Rajshekar Mangalore,Please dont crown me Anti-Hindu.This is absolutEly unfair and incriminating.Sir, I love my hindu brothers,my friends are hindus,my nighbours are hindus,I am always under the impression that Hindus are very friendly and kind hearted people to associate with.I am really pained on that comment.
Certainly I hate BD/SS for some extant RSS also.I always appriciate BJP's good work and criticizes their shortcomings or lack of proper judgement in certain issues.I even criticize Cong and JDS for their mis admin ect.As far subject concerned with Mr Nagesh Nayak, the sub was Kannada Sahitya Sammelana and we must comment/opinion about particular subject that is what I mean.As you said I am prefered as "voice of minority" for their just cause.I hope your misunderstanding with me is solved.Thank You.

    Dear Nagesh ,
Its not the 'SAADHANE' of BJP for conducting Sahithya Sammelena..since a long ago its going on. However SAADHANE means the setting up new industries, getting Jobs for fresher’s, economical growth etc. But not hitting minorities, giving full authority to Sri rama sena , giing money to Hindu temples etc. Shame on BJP that none of these things are happening in Kernataka. First of all they can’t distribute Flood relief funds which were received from Congress government. Grow up and read some good economic contents papers instead of BJP Supportive papers.

MR NAGESH NAYAK,Bangalore, you are always talking about BJP's "SAADANE".The above subject is about Kannada NELA,JALA,BASHE and your BJP govt not bothered about all three subjects
1 Our land in Bellary given to AP for the reason of illeagal mining
2 Even though in Belagavi MES people hand in glove with Shiva Sene and MNS of Maha indulging in anti karntaka activities your govt mum about that.Because for political reasons(BJP Shiva SENE alliance in Maha)So these double standard shows BJP want to remain in power by hook or crook!!

Mr CM try to fulfill at least 50% of resolution passed by Kannada Sahitya Sammelana so far.In Belagavi,MES making daily threat to go with Maha state and political leaders and minister of Maha openly challenging state govt in our soil! why these kind of anti karnataka activities going on in our soil and BJP govt mum about the things! If Hyderabad Karnataka packages are not implemented with war footing, the people of that area already started of desent to join with AP.

These areas are very backward and govt need to look in to it's development else it could be another Belagavi.Kasaragod Kannadiga's fate also not different and they are sandwitched in between Malayali and Kannada. To add salt to insult recently Belgavi was annexed to Maha by the office of VEEP and Hassan was annexed to AP by office of the Centre may be a un intetional mistake but it hurts 6 crore Kannadigas.JAI KARNTAKA.
