S.M Basheer Elected as the New President of KKMA- DK Branch

Kuwait, Feb 22: KKMA-Dakshina Kannada branch of Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association (KKMA), the largest charitable organization of Indians nationals in Kuwait has elected S.M Basheer as new president for its DK Branch for next two-year term (2010 – 2012) in a general body meeting under the supervision of Muneer Kodi, Election officer of KKMA held at the Indian Community School Auditorium Khaithan on 19th February 2010.

The general body meeting started with a recitation of Quran by Master Jassim Iqbal. General Secretary of DK Branch B.M Iqbal delivered the welcome address and highlighted the various charitable achievements and activities of KKMA. He mentioned that the donated Kidney Dialysis Center (KDC) in Father Mulla Hospital, Mangalore has added significant value to the poor people.
KKMA chairman Mr. Sageer Trikaripur in his inaugural speech applauded the contribution of DK branch in community service and social welfare activities and highlighted the newly launched “Model NRI project “ which aims to create awareness about the situation of NRIs and to address the problem in real earnest by changing their life style
An annual report was presented by Abdul Jabbar Gurpur detailing two years activities of the branch committee. The comprehensive finance report presented by Sayed Rafik, Treasurer of DK Branch was a solid evident for KKMA’s remarkable benefit programs and positive contribution to the society at large. During the program the outgoing President Mr. Hameed Mulki appreciated the team work and briefed about the activities of KKMA.
The newly elected President S.M Basheer in his opening address highlighted the opportunity provided by KKMA for charity works and with special mention for the urgency of following the direction of the Model NRI Project in establishing the better future endeavor.
The Chief Guest for the event, a well renowned Speaker Mr. B.S. Sharfuddin in his speech appreciated the initiative taken by the KKMA for the social development and thanked KKMA for doing the activities which are meant for the noble cause of the ones in need.
The Branch also felicitated the members Syed Riyaz, Hameed Yusuff, Saleem Mulla, Abdul Rahman Kana, Shamsuddin, Abdul Jabbar Gurpura, and S.M Farooq for their excellent contribution to the community work.
Special memento was given to Hammed Mulky, B.M Iqbal and Sayed Rafik for their excellent leadership.
In their felicitation speeches KKMA Vice Chairman Mr. Akber Siddik, KKMA President Mr. N A Muneer, KKMA General Secretary Mr. Abdul Fatah highlighted the need of unity and work for a betterment of a society, also mentioned the significant contribution of the Dakshina Kannada branch.
KKMA central committee leaders A.P Salam, Ibrahim Kunnil, K.Basheer, C.K Sattar, K.C Rafiq and other leaders from 14 branches were present.
The program was attended by a large number of members and guests, the branch also arranged separate program for families and children in a separate hall. The family program includes the Parental class given by Mrs. Shamina Afsan , and also includes other activities like General knowledge and games for children’s .
