Muscat: ISC Karnataka Wing Cricket Masti and Sports Day

Muscat, Feb 10: Having conducted several in-house entertainment programmes for the member community, Karnataka Wing of Indian Social Club, Muscat, had arranged Cricket Masti and Annual Sports & Fun day on 22nd and 29th of January respectively. It was time for sports enthusiastic members to display their talent and they did not let go the opportunity. Cricket Masti had as many as 12 teams. Each team had 9 players with minimum of one lady & a child representation. Teams had names symbolizing the regions and spirits of its players. Each team could field 7 players only for the match which was a 7-overs a side. The event lasted the whole day with Team 'Malnad Tigers' showing their supremacy all through.  In the final match, Malnad Tigers, after winning the toss, invited Field Rockers to bat first who could put up a total of 58 runs losing all their wickets in 6 overs. Malnad Tigers won the match without losing a wicket in just 3 overs - with Hiriyanna and Swaroop unbeaten on 31 and 15 respectively. All matches were played in picturesque Sidab grounds.











 

Carrying on with the same exuberance and fortitude, members along with their families assembled again on 29th January at Muscat Club, Wadi Kabir to take part in the Annual Sports and Fun Day. There were number of games offering opportunities to toddlers, ladies and even for senior citizens. In addition to track events, there were team events such as Kho-Kho, Shot-put and a traditional game called Lagori. Winners took away trophies, medals and participation certificates.             

Henna painting, face painting, bouncing air castle on side lines set up the atmosphere of carnival with servings of beverages, popcorn, cotton candy, ice candy adding to the funfair. Raffle draws and the final mega draw of a return air-ticket to Bangalore raised the excitement levels to high point. The two events were coordinated by Prasad, ISC KW Sports Co-ordinator, who was ably supported by the other ISC KW committee members and number of volunteers. The ISCKW committee thanks all the volunteers for their contribution and the sponsors, viz. Dignity Engineering, Muscat Pharmacy, Al-Khaif Trading, Khimji Mart, Al Shams Muscat, Al Amal Medical Centre, who supported the program. Kamat Restaurant sponsored the event with breakfast and sumptuous lunch.

ISC-Karnataka Wing strongly believes in and encourages total development of the community especially in social, cultural, educational and sports fields and has many programs planned in the coming months in the field of dance, music, sports and other extra-curricular activities.
