Hindu Temple Vandalised in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Feb 6 (IANS) An ancient Hindu temple in a village near the Bangladesh capital has been vandalised, the miscreants breaking six idols, police were quoted as saying Saturday.

Some 30-35 people attacked the Sri Sri Rahshakali temple in Ashrafdi village in Naranaganj district Friday night, the bdnews24 web site quoted a police official as saying.

They also damaged four adjacent houses and injured five people, it said.

Police officer Mohammed Yunus Ali said the temple was attacked following an altercation between a Hindu and three youths in the village. A case has been registered, the official said.

Shahnawaz kukkikatte I agree with you. What Sudhir said is also right . Lets all keep our faith inside church , mosque, mandir. Lets don't confuse religion with country. We were united before british came to india . Even we are united today. Divide and rule policy is adopted by some national parites for their benefits. But we can teach them good lessons during election time. All the way we have to strive hard to maintain religious harmony just be being patriotic.

Mr Sudhir, Mangalore, Lets discuss and ward off our differences. Religion is a matter of personal choice. Its ones belief. In any country you will find many religions , beliefs, practices, traditions, taboos, cultures. One cant drag religion into the idea of country. I am an Indian, but follow Islam. You too are an INdian, but follow hinduism. Thats the freedom of religion.

I cant force my ideologies on you and neither you can do that to me. However, we are united when the concept of "India" comes. If someone attacks or criticises our country we are united. Patriotism is the duty of every citizen of India and there is no compromise. But we are devided not on the Indianness, but on religious beliefs and practices, which is ones personal choice/right and no one can take away that freedom from us.

Thats why India is unity in diversity. Basically we are all one and united. We share the happiness and sorrows of our neighbours. We enjoy each others festivities and celebrations. But dirty politicians devide us by playing with the religious sentiments for their vote bank politics. I agree religion is the soft target and common weakness of we Indians. We should raise above the level of religion and think in the national interest and march forward.

Dear Shanawaz, I agree with you that most of the Muslims today do not know about the basic teachings of Islam, they need to be educated and enlightened first. But every time there is an un-Islamic act, we can't expect fatwas. Most importantly , you know the calibre of most of our mullas, their fatwas can be misleading and sometimes dangerous too.

Well Said Shahnawaz Kukkikatte. The need of the hour is to change ourselves from narrow mentality to broader mentality . The person who is not respecting other religions is not respecting his own religion. But one thing is clear that religious freedom in any muslim country is too less for human beings then any other countries in the world.

This act is condemnable as Its against Basic Teaching of Islam. Islam promotes live and let live policy and encourages peaceful living. for the kind information of Mr. Raj M'lore, there are somany temples in Muslim Countries like Muscat, UAE etc. And in Dubai there is a grand temple just adjecent to a Masjid and even while Muslim offer Namaz, the bells in Temple rings without any hurdle. So on any topic one must have a first hand knowledge before commenting or exagerating the issue.

Mr Abdul Rahman/Dubai. I agree with you. But let me ask you how many muslims in India have read Quran and Hadith and received clear message of Islam. They are muslims by inheritance without knowing tenets of Islam. By just naming ourselves, Abdul Rahman, Abdullah or Shah nawaz we will not become true muslims. So here the role of religious preachers comes and is very important to guide the ignorant muslims to true path. We seek advice from these mullahs as regards divorce, marriage etc etc. Muslim clerics issue fatwas as regards marriage, Salman khan celebrating Ganesh, Muslim actors dancing with females, Sania Mirza wearing shorts.

Same way they should also issue fatwas against attacking others places of worship. If all muslims really understood their religion, today there would not have been terrorism, bomb blasts, everyone would have paid their zakaths on time, evryone would have prayed 5 times a day, everyone would have fasted in ramadhan. There are lost sheeps in every community and muslim community is not an exception. So enlightened religious leaders have to play a greater role and guide these lost sheeps to the right path. Thats it my friend. How mullahs brain washed Ajmal Kasab and told him that if you kill kafirs, he will get good hoors (girls) in paradise. Had the mullahs told him killing an innocent soul would amount to killing of whole of humanity, as said in Quran, I am sure he would not have come to India. This is as simple as that.

A disgraceful and barbaric act. I can feel the pain and anger of the minority Hindus there.Religion should not come in the way of opposing any criminal act and I fully sympathise with my Hindu brothers and call upon for a stringent punishment to the culprits. But I do not support the arguments of some one here that mullas should issue fatwas against this criminal act because Islam is very catagorical and clear that any such act is not allowed in Islam. So where is the need for fatwa and what is fatwa?

Vandalizing any historic place (temple/church/mosque) is one of worst crimes one can commit. It disturbs the peace and harmony of a society of which we all are a part. It also destroys the history and heritage of a country. A loss for the whole nation. The Bangladesh government should take steps to secure the historic places. I condemn this attack.

A Christian of any denomination will feel the pain, when a Church is destroyed. Likewise a Muslim is hurting deeply while a Mosque is vandalized. Vandalizing an old Hindu Temple by the goons of any religion is such a cheap and heinous crime, with the whole intention of hurting the whole Hindu religion. This insanity has to be dealt with severely whether it is in India or Bangaladesh.

When somebody is attacking a place of worship belongs to other religion, it will affect the whole community's peace of mind. A religious person of any religion will not dare to throw stone at the house of worship of another religion, those people are straight from the hell and anti-religious. When the culprints are not caught, and severely punished, that is worse than the escape of rapists.

One simple question - Why do we need a decry from the mullahs? I guess god has given us brains to think what is right and what is wrong. So why do need the mullahs to tell us something is wrong when we can clearly see it is wrong. Don't you think too much dependence on Mullahs for morality is the source of lot of evils.

Any place of worship is place of God as there is only one creator and it is religious leaders have divided. Vandalizing any religious places should be condemned by all irrespective of religion, caste, creed. These tantalizer’s are like rowdy of their religion who give bad name to their community. No society appreciate rowdies. Similarly everybody should condemn this type of heinous act. Wish respect to each other and respect to religious places will be honoured by everybody.

its a Shameful act and if it is done by Muslims, it is against the basic teachings of Islam. There is no need of any special Fatwa from Mullahs, as the Holy Qur'an has already put forward the peaceful coexistace polisy for Muslims in the society. It says in sura-e- Kafiroon, .... "Lakum Deenukum Waliyaddeen"...means your religion is for you and ours is for us. It is the Religious Duty of the Muslim Ruler to take care of and provide full security to the Non Muslims in his country. So Govt of Bangla Desh should act swiftly to crack down this tendency of intolerance.

The act of vandalising any places of worship is highly condemnable and calls for condemnation of such attacks from all section of society. The Mullahs must decry a fatwa condemning it strongly. These people are enemies of civilization. All religions have been existing today and changes coming there in are with the knowledge of God. Culprits must be punished and hanged in public so that the message goes across the people that intolerance shall no more be tolerated.
