Love Jehad – HC Grants Six Weeks for Filing Final Report

Bangalore: Love Jehad – HC Grants Six Weeks for Filing Final Report

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jan 20: A division bench of the state High Court (HC), on Tuesday January 19, granted a further six weeks’ time to the state police department, for filing a final report on the alleged ‘Love Jehad’ activities in the state.

It may be recalled that the High Court, while taking up the case of the elopement of a girl from Chamarajanagar with a Muslim boy and marrying him later, had come across the allegation of ‘Love Jehad’. The girl’s parents had alleged that the girl had been enticed into marrying the boy with the specific purpose of converting her into Islam in centres specifically set up in Kerala for the purpose.

A team led by the DIG of Criminal Investigation Department, Malini Krishnamurty, formed to investigate the truth behind the prevalence of ‘Love Jehad’, had submitted its interim report to the HC in November last. At that time, it had sought two months time for submitting a final report. The time granted to the team expired on Tuesday. Through an affidavit, the team requested for additional time for filing the final report. The division bench, comprising Justice Sridhar Rao and Justice Ravi Malimath, allowed a time of six weeks to the team.

The controversy encircling "Love Jehad" must be put to rest once and for all. If it is there, then it must be exposed in the larger interest of the society. If its not there, then groups/people behind such malicious propaganda too must be exposed.

Yes I know, that its alien to Islam and if any one follows it, they are damaging their own religion. Lets give the authorities ample time to investigate and file report. Its too early to comment negatively or positively on the issue. My observation is that if at all such movement called LOve Jehad is existant and operational, then all muslims and non muslims must come together to eradicate this menance. Love jehad doesnt mend hearts but it breaks and devides society. Fundamentalists from both communities take advantage of it and politicians add fuel to the burning issues.

This is what our judicial system wastes its valuable time on. There are cases pending for over 20 years that are not resolved and they go after jokes like this. They are making themselves a laughing stock.

Muslims as well as non Muslims should refrain from mixing Islam with acts committed by Muslims. Islam is a religion coming from God and those who have taken time to study Islam, will know that Islam if practised in the right sense will make this world a better place to live for humanity. Love Jihad/like terrorists who use the name of Islam, to get support of the ignorants, should be taken as a crime commited by an indvidual and not having anything to do with Islam

Mr. rehman, kerala High Court didnot rule out exisiting of Love Jihad. Read carefully before giving your comment. Here no one talks about Islam but talking about only Love Jihad so where is the question of Islam here. I can see many comments saying 'no love jihad' than saying 'love jihad exisits' which itself proves support for love jihad.

The word 'Love Jihad' was invented by the Kerala High Court. Same High Court later verdicted that "Love Jihad" is not at all existing in the State. Same thing will happen in Karnataka also. If Karnataka High Court also verdicted that there in no "Love Jihad" existing in the State, then Mr. Muthalik will go jobless.
