Mangalore, Jan 14:  Four students and members of the Guides, who trained at St Agnes High School, received the Rashtrapathi Guide awards and were presented the certificates at a function held on Thursday January 14 in the city.

The Guides Calida Pinto, Akanksha Hebbar, Anushka Shetty, now students of St Aloysius Pre-university College, and Raina D’Cunha are the recipients of the certificates issued by the President of India Prathibha Patil.

The district awards presentation programme was held at the Bharath Scouts and Guides Bhavan.

The Rashtrapathi Guide award is the most prestigious and highest honour for Guides. The Guides, after their enrolment test, serve in five different levels prior to getting the award.

Anushka Shetty, daughter of Charted Accountant Nithin J Shetty, said that along with her other three batchmates, she had testing camps in Bangalore for the award.

Being a recipient of the highest honour in Guides, she expressed happiness over receiving the award and thanked St Agnes High School for its support.

Chief Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides I A Kairanna presented the awards and certificates. Principal of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Philomina Lobo was the chief guest at the programme.
