Udupi: District SIO Convention Highlights Plight of BPL Families in India

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (RD/SP)

Udupi, Dec 29:
The district unit of the Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO) had organized a rally and convention, titled ‘Students Voice for Brotherhood’, at Board High School ground, here at 4.15 pm on Monday October 28.

Suhail K K, national president of SIO, inaugurated the convention.

Suhail noted that polarization of communal activities has been happening in the country in the recent past. “Terrorism can not be a lasting solution for various problems plaguing the country and its people.  Nearly 37 percent of our countrymen belong to families living below poverty line, and the union government is expected to take earnest measures to improve their economic conditions. Efficient governance on the part of the people who run the government can alone quell the rising demand for the formation of more states, like in the case of of Telangana and Gorkhaland, demands for which are based on the local culture and the backwardness of these regions,” Suhail said.

Karnataka High Court retired judge, Justice M F Saldana, was the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Saldanha said that the religious centers of minority community are being targetted across Karnataka since September 2008, in connivance with the communal forces, state administration and the police.  “Innocent people have become the victims of police atrocities, and the state Governor is also worried over the rising incidents of attacks on worship centers of minority communities.  Meanwhile, it is the responsibility of the state administration to put an end to such misadventures of communal forces.  Although the minority community has contributed significantly towards educating the countrymen, the state has not been acknowledging their contributions, and has instead been abetting communal disharmony for political gains,” Justice Saldanha added.

“The media is expected to be sensitive while reporting communally sensitive matters, since in its absence, repercussions jeopardizing peace all over the country can occur.  Naxals are the outcome of inequality plaguing the society in every sphere of life.  Naxalism breeds by the blood of the poor youths, who try to bring equality by force, using weapons.  The setting up of Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) by forcefully acquiring fertile farmlands of the poor farmers of the coastal region, supported by the district administration and the brutal force of the policemen, has triggered anguish in the minds of the displaced families, which has the potential of causing bloodshed some day,” Justice Saldanha warned.

Mohammed Kunhi, convener of the youth wing of Jamaat-E-Islami Hind, also spoke at the occasion.

Shaukath Ali, state president of SIO – Karnataka zone, delivered the valedictory address.

Bilal Udupi, national secretary of SIO, Khalid Ahmed, chairman of Wakf Board, Sadat Zaki Mula, secretary of SIO - Karnataka zone, Sayyed Istiaq, public relations officer of SIO – Karnataka zone, Shayeed U, joint secretary of SIO- Karnataka zone, Akbar Ali Udupi, chief secretary of SIO – Karnataka zone and Iftiqar Ahmed, secretary of SIO – Karnataka zone were present at the occasion.

Oudha Bhatkal performed the ‘Kirat’ on this occasion.  Shabbir Ahmed, president of Karnataka zone SIO, welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory address.  Hussain Kodibengre proposed vote of thanks.  Asif Bajal compered the programme.

well done SIO.By claiming "Student brotherhood" , SIO has accepted great challenge from extremist organisations from all the religions. In the present scenario of Indian campus, where one class is busy in lavishness and another is in communalising the minds, Such kind of conventions will be of highly beneficial.

Oh dear Nagesh Nayak, why you are always spitting venom for every act good or bad you are there to blame Muslims or Minority Communities and give negative impressions. Rightly through out the world there is blood shed for either social or religious reasons. But this violence or terrorism is not the monopoly of Muslims / minorities. You know it that Kauravas and Pandavas were from which community. Surely Ravana whoc kidnapped Seetha was not a Muslim. Hitler, Masolini, Bush, LTTE and its supremo Parbhakaran, Ulfa and other Maoist Army, ShivSena, Ram Sena, Irish Republican Army(IRA), Ku Klan Klux, Naxalites etc have nothing to do with Islam or Muslim Community. Just go to some search engine on Internet and click "Terrorist Organizations" and you will get a list of Hundreds of such organiztions. I am sure you will be surprised to see that more than 75% of them belongs to Non Muslim or in your words "Majority Community". My sincere advice to you is, plz do your self some constructive work for the society and appreciate the good work even if it is done by your enemy. Simply finding faults with everything will serve no purpose. MIND IT!

Dear Nagesh Nayak,..The outfits which you have mentioned 'AlQaeda,Taliban etc are the creation of some vested interest & on the payroll of them just to get a pretext to attack Afghanistan & Iraq...They wants base in these countries just to keep its upper hand. Unfortunately we believed that all the attacks are done by these elements.Do you believe those illiterate poor Muslims are smart enough to carry out attack in such a systematic way.!!! It is their outfit & they use it whenever needed. We Indian Muslims believes in peaceful living .

Well said Nagesh Nayak. Currently whole world is struggling and thousands of innocent people die every day due to Jihad all over the world. And they started to kill their own brothers as well. Like what happned yesterday between shia and Sunni in Pakistan. These such organizations should act first to stop this kind of sadism.

During muharram there was bomb blast & suicide bomb attack in pakistan iran, iraq & afghanistan. You are not able to protect your own community people in your muslim country how you are having right to blame unnecessary to others. JAI HO INDIA. QUIT PSUEDO SECULARS FORM INDIA.
