Mangalore, Dec 28: The ALOYSIAN CONCLAVE and AWARDS FUNCTION will be held on 3 Jan 2010 at AIMIT, the NEW CAMPUS for Management and Information Technology of St Aloysius College, at Beeri, Kotekar, Ullal. The programme will commence at 10.30 a.m.

Five of the eminent Aloysian alumni from different walks of life will  be honoured on that day. Lt. Gen Nanda, Coorg, an octogenarian army General; Shri Amruth Someshwar, literary figure from Mangalore; Dr Stan D’Souza, eminent scientist form BARC, Mumbai; Mr Lawrence D’Sozua, entrepreneur and  philanthropist, Kuwait and Capt J P Menezes, former President, Kanara Chamber of Commerce will be the recipients of the Eminent Aloysian Award this year.

The awards function will be followed by the ANNUAL ALOYSIAN LECTURE delivered by Shri Amruth Someshwar.

St Aloysius College in collaboration with Aloysian Partners from North America (APNA) and Aloysian Partners International ( API)  will be organizing this event. The CONCLAVE  has been held for the last two years, and some of the distinguished alumni like Justice Santhosh Hegde, Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, Mr Vinaya Hegde, Mr Ananthrkrishna, Mr Aubrey D’Souza, Philanthropist and the person who initiated St Aloysius College into the computer revolution back in 1986,  Mr Victor Pais, USA, Mr Ivan Fernandes, CEO, DUCONT, Mr K V Rao, Scientist,Sweden, Mr Rajesh Rao, CEO, Druva Interactives,  Mr. Eric Ozario, Mangalore are some of the recipients of the award during the last conclaves. This is going to be the annual feature.

The programme will be held in the new air-conditioned, spacious auditorium of the newly built campus at Beeri, Kotekar. This new campus has excellent infra-structure, and recently has been adorned with beautiful paintings donated by another alumnus, Mr Max Rasquinha, Houston.  This occasion will also lend an opportunity to the alumni and friends of the Institution to visit this world renowned site for Management and IT  studies, which is earmarked to be one of the best Business and IT Schools in India—XLRI of the south.

    Congratulations to Capt. John Menezes. He certainly is an eminent Aloysian. In the short period that I have come to know him, I have been amazed at the energy, enthusiasm and a genuine spirit of service he brings to every organization and cause he is involved with. Not just Aloysius College and the alumni, but whole Mangalore would be proud of Capt. John Menezes. I am proud of my alma mater for this great initiative in recognizing such eminent Aloysians.

    The CONCLAVE AND THE ANNUAL AWARDS was the brain wave of Father Denzil and it is also opportunity for The Alumni to meet and see for themselves the developments which have taken place in recent times. Apart from the awardees, SAC will also be having a distinguished member of the Alumni from U.S.A. - Rev. Dr. Oswald Mascarenhas. He has three masters degrees and a Ph.D. from a prestigious Universities in U.S.A. The event will take place at The New Campus which will provide an opportunity for many to have a first hand idea of the progress St. Aloysius has made from the year 1880 the year nine Jesuit Father landed at The Idgah Hill. It is my hope that whoever have read these comment will come for the Award Function bearing in mind that transport will be provided - two buses leaving from SAC. Mangalore at 9.30 a.m. Joe Gonsalves
