Udupi, Dec 26:
ICYM, Padukone parish organized the 29th ‘Wilson Nite’ at Gregory High School grounds, Padukone on the auspicious occasion of celebrating their silver jubilee on Friday, Dec 25.  This was indeed a great success with 'house full' crowd of nothing less than 1700 and superb-quality entertainment.  After the ICYM silver jubilee celebration, ‘Wilson Nite’ began providing top-class entertainment.  It was ably compered by internationally acclaimed toastmaster, Ronald Olivera, in his unique, confident and entertaining style.

The prayer song composed by Wilson Olivera and sung by him along with his troupe gave the event a soulful beginning. From this point on Wilson and other singers Zeena Pereira, Esther Noronha, Prakash Mahadevan, Prakash Bajpe, Hariet and Prashanth Pinto kept the audience spell bound with their melodious voice and marvelous presentation.  Many of the songs were supported by dances from ‘Nach Sobhann’ group which was well received by the audience.

Jokes presented in the form of skits, by ‘Memori’ fame Jerome Moras and other artists from Anjelor and Bendur indeed tickled the funny bones of one and all present.  Two comedy skits performed by “Dubai Huduga” fame Alwyn Andrade and Prakash Shetty were appreciated by one and all. ‘The Expressions’ team members Kishoo Barkur and Eric Soans too accompanied them for one of the skits.

Mind-blowing music was played by well known and popular Gladson along with his orchestra troupe.

Fr Alban D’Souza, vicar vara of Kundapur varado, Fr Walter Mendonca, parish priest of Pius Nagar Church and the ICYM director of Kundapur varado,   Fr  Philip Neri Aranha,   parish priest of Padukone, Sr Philomena Sequeira, superior of Bethany convent, Padukone, Steven D’Souza, vice president of the St Antony’s church Padukone and office bearers of ICYM, Padukone parish were on the stage during the silver jubilee celebration of ICYM, Padukone parish.

‘Konkan Mannik’ ‘Sangeeth Sardar’ Wilson Olivera and his brother, international award winning speaker and popular master of ceremonies, Ronald Olivera were honoured during the celebration by Fr Philip Neri Aranha, parish priest of Padukone.  In his speech, he insisted that even though both Wilson and Ronald have moved to Kundapur and Manipal parishes respectively, they are and they will always remain the integral part of Padukone and will always be known as the two great personalities of Padukone.

It can be remembered here that Wilson is known to be the only Konkani songs composer of Udupi district, who has composed nearly 800 songs, has 29 musical nites to his credit and has released four music albums so far.  His latest music album “Bomboichem Chedum” is being sold like hot cakes.

Ronald Olivera, on the other hand, is the member of Toastmasters International and has won three awards in ‘International Taped Speech Contests’ held in USA .  He has also won four first prizes in four consecutive years in Gulf level speech competitions held during Gulf Toastmasters’ Annual Conventions.  Ronald also has to his credit winning three awards in a single Gulf Toastmasters’ Annual Convention, held in Oman in 2002 and the only toastmaster in the gulf to achieve such feet.  Ronald is the most sought after guest speaker and has organized several workshops in various corporations and organizations in India , UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia .  He has not only compered for almost all Konkani singers/composers including the great legend of Konkani,  Wilfy Rebimbus and the ever famous Lorna, but also in concerts of other artists such as Kottayam Nazir, Nadar Shah, Mohammed Aslam and many others.
