Tulu Musical Extravaganza:

The Tulu musical concerts held on main stage and other stages featuring old hit songs such as ‘Ekka Sakka’, ‘Akka Battol’, ‘Enklen Badkere Budle’, and ‘Keddesa Battndye’, rekindled fond memories in the audience.

The songs from ‘Kadalamage’, by Dr Sunita Shetty and playback singers Tonse Pushkal Kumar, Ravindra Prabhu, Sangeetha Balachandra, and others also inspired the natives to do their mite for the growth of Tulu.

I do not agree with Mr. Nithin Poojari Moodbidri...this sammelana is a fair attempt to create awareness to those who are getting away from tulu...please do not co relate hindutva with this... what do you say about Kudroli Navaratri Fest (Mangalore Dasara) where a lot of money is spent...? Let us just speek in tulu.. that is enough...we must keep in mind that no language (even English) is known as a global language... nobody says to make tulu as a global language...let us just preseve this language.... our parents may be poor or not so attractive, but no one substitute them...let us be proud of this language..Tulunadu Airport is also OK...we have already accepted C S I Airport of Mumbai...we are always ahead to follow and appreciate others... let us keep up our prides also..

Hearty Congratulations to the noble leader and a role model of Tulunad Dr. Veerendra Heggade, creative artist Dr. Mohan Alva.able Mr. Yashoda Varma and Organising members to make this events a grand success. The presence of the dignitaries, the representation from all continents, from different walks of life and the subjects of discussion made the meeting a grant event and memorable record in the history of Tulunadu and its heritage. History witnessed the pitiable plight of the kingdoms and emphires, even the remenants of the glorious past had been vanished. A massive and imminent migration to safer place due to war, natural calamities, atrocities within the community led to the ruin of wealth, culture, language and heritage of many communities. There must be strong reasons for the confinement of Tulu as in the case of certain other languages. The language and culture had been passed from generations to generations and still it spreads all over the world wherever its ambassadors go. Revival of the language and culture should start from family.Due importance must be given to mother tongue. Once again we sincerely congratulate the organisers, participants and media to make this events grand success. Of course it gives a strong inspiration to protect our language, culture as well as our identity. MITHRAMPADY JAYARAM RAI& FAMILY PUTTUR, D.K.

It is gratifying to see people from different communities setting aside all barriers and meet at The Tulu Convention under the chairmanship of Darmadikari Veerendra Hegde. This benign person is gifted indeed and is trying to preserve the heritage. His approach is in the right direction. It is good to see well known people at The Meeting and I am particularly happy that Her Excellency Margaret Alva presided over the convention. I have known this great lady for a while and in fact was present at a function hosted in her honour. She is keeping up the great traditions set by her Father, Mother, Father-in-law and mother-in-law who I knew very well. In her reply to The Toast (raised by Clarence Pais) she aptly said that because of the constant encouragement of her husband she has reached her present position. It is wonderful to see that this lady is gifted with those great qualities of heart and mind viz Simplicity and kindness. It is my sincere hope that she will reach greater heights. Joe Gonsalves

Congratulations to Dr. heggade. This truly reflects on your stature as a leader and appeal on the people!! Daiji, as always a wonderful coverage.. Kudos. On the other hand, it hurts to read some friends talking abt a separate state. Tulu, like Konkani is more of spoken language. Only way to conserve it is by speaking it, practise the traiditions of our place which already hve become extinct. Diversity is the key aspect of udupi-DK region. For example, in Konkani itself we have many versions and we cannot afford to create states for each version. Sometime back i read some fellow Konkani members asking for Konkani language option in schools. These same people could be teaching English to their kids at home & want Konkani to be taught in schools. Why not teach Konkani at home itself? I think we are fine with Kannada as the admin language of our place and at the same time conserve Konkani/Tulu by speaking it..

This event delivered great experience of solidarity among Tuluvas, and remind us to our roots, our traditions and culture - that has been bequeathed by our forefathers. Meantime, we ernestly request Shri (Dr)Veerendra Hegde - the patron of this glittering event, to create a permanent sanctury of 'Tuluva Culture' somewhere in this place, so that we all 'Tuluvas' - wherever we are!, will have an opportunity to live with that and cherish them all along our life - immortally. It is also our desire that the Government should support this cause, and provide a wide and good roads between Dharmastala to Mangalore, which is presently very much narrow and zig-zag.

respecting, promoting, preserving tulu is a welcome step. But, tulunadu as a separate state will doom. Karnataka with 28 MPs is struggling to get it's share of funds, projects from the center. Now, imagine the fate of tulunaadu with 2 MPs ! Also, kannadigas and tuluvas are living in harmony since centuries, now this tulunadu statehood will create hatred among them and definately this is not good for south canara and udupi districts. I advocate teaching tulu in all the schools in south canara district as well as making it an administrative language in govt offices in south canara along with kannada.
