Udupi, Dec 13: “The union government is contemplating introducing special laws to avail all government facilities meant for uplifting the Muslim community and implementing reservation wherever it was allotted.  Discussions were also held with union minister Salman Qureshi in this regard”, said union law minister and former Karnataka chief minister M Veerappa Moily.

He was speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony of a hostel for girls studying in PUC at Al Ehsan English Medium School ground, Muloor, near here, on Sunday December 13.

Markaz Talimil Ehsan Muloor is developing the hostel at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore.

“The union government has released Rs 2,000 crore for the Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad Foundation to achieve growth among the Muslim community.  Funds are being earmarked for building hostels for girls of the community in every district centre.  The Jamaat in each district should take an interest in making the optimum use of union funds”, Moily added.

“The law is the same for every Indian.  The union government is committed to staging a struggle through the Liberhan Commission for safeguarding the legal rights of the minority community.  It has closely observed the atrocities on the minority community during the arson and mob fury in Karnataka, Gujarat, and Orissa, when the respective state administrations did nothing to curb such attacks.  The union directives were already forwarded to such states, with the provision to dissolve the government, if attacks take place repeatedly there.  The issue will come up for discussion during the winter parliamentary session to enact laws in this regard”, he emphasized.

South Karnataka Sunni Centre president Assayid K S Atakoya Tangal Kumbol presided over the programme.

Al Haj Jaffer Sadiq Tangal Kumbol, Sunni Centre executive president Ismail Kinya, retired police officer G A Bava, District Congress Committee president M A Gafoor, former state minister Vasant V Salian, corporator Bhaskar Moily, D K S education institutions correspondent Majid Suralpady, Jaleel Karopady, Ummer Ismail, Ajabba Muloor, and vice-president Hatim Kanchi, were the chief guests.

Moulana Mustafa Sadi welcomed the gathering.  Sadiq Malebettu proposed the vote of thanks and Isaac Bolvai compered the programme.

About 15 centuries ago, prophet Mohammed (PBUH) passed the Universal Law of Compulsory Education to its followers by declaring " SEEKING KNOWLEDGE IS MANDATORY FOR EVERY MEN AND WOMEN IN ISLAM ” . The genesis of every problem Muslims facing to day is lagging behind in Education. It is a matter of great pleasure that, DKSC, one of the most dynamic and efficient educational organizations in coastal Karnataka which imparts Quality Education to More than 1200 students including orphans and destitute is also planning to establish a Womens College in rural area of Udupi Dist. Kudos to Syed Atakoya Thangal and his dedicated followers for their noble task in uplifting the community in educational field. My humble request to them is to Establish a full pledged Medical Centre some where in coastal Karnataka rural area so that the poorest of the poor, irrespective of any religion or cast will be benefited. May God bless DKSC- M.E.Moolur.

Good Job, this is the only way muslim youth will get better education and will have more responsibilities towards the nation. As the day pass by educated youth will also know dirty politicians speak as if they have donated it for you from their pocket is to collect some huge fund in their pockets.

These things should not be spoken at the celebration of an event belonging to a particular community. May be it is to gain maximum political mileage. When the issue is all about "minority and Majority", things become too sensational. The fact is that the union govt must strive and struggle to safeguard the legal rights of all citizens, irrespective of religion or status. Consoling to read "It has closely observed the atrocities on the minority community during the arson and mob fury in Karnataka, Gujarat, and Orissa, when the respective state administrations did nothing to curb such attacks. The union directives were already forwarded to such states, with the provision to dissolve the government, if attacks take place repeatedly there." What we need is not directives, but clear provisions and enactment of law irrespective of political heavy weights. If our political leaders are not held responsible for the atrocities committed, we will see greater anarchy as the days go by.

I still unable to understand why our muslim men not like to invite muslim women on to dias? Why our religious leaders continue such tradition in modren era? Why Moily shy to takeup this matter with those religious leaders?
