Sharjah Celebrates 10 years of Hosting F-1 Powerboat Championship


Sharjah, Dec 12 (IANS) Sharjah is celebrating 10 years of successful hosting of the F-1 Powerboat championship, WAM news agency reported Saturday.

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), organizers of the 2009 F1 Powerboat World Championship - Sharjah Grand Prix, held a press conference Thursday ahead of the event, which will take place Dec 10-11 at Sharjah's Khalid Lagoon.

Mohamed A. Al Noman, SCTDA Director General and Head of the organizing committee for the Sharjah Grand Prix 2009 opened the conference saying: "Over the last nine years of hosting this event, Sharjah has come to be recognized as an outstanding host for the F-1 World Championships, and this success is just one step in our mission to promote Sharjah as a leading global tourism and cultural destination."

"Every year SCTDA works harder in order to produce a stunning F-1 Powerboat World Championship event, and the organization awards Sharjah has won push the emirate and the UAE to host new rounds of this prestigious event," he added.
