Dubai, Dec 12: Mangalore Konkans Dubai had organized their annual event, 'Family Fiesta – 2009,' at the Wanderers Sports Club, Sharjah on Friday December 11, 2009.

The  day-long event started at around 11.00 am, with the delivery of the welcome address by the president of Mangalore Konkans, Santosh Nazareth.

'The Mission' band had come all the way from Srilanka to entertain the crowd throughout the day with their beautiful music. The cloudy weather and light rains provided the crowd with an ideal atmosphere to dance to the musical tunes.

Though there had been intermittent drizzling with some intervals in between, the spirit of the crowd continued to be high, and the people went on to have fun until evening. The Christmas atmosphere was in the air at the venue, as several participants were wearing the  'Santa' colour caps and attire.

Stalls, games, face-painting etc., which were organized by Mangalore Konkans attracted lot of participants, especially the kids.

Along with the 'Mission' troupe, local artistes like Gopi Kamath, Monica Valder and others entertained the crowd with their melodious voices and talented rendering.

Loads of spot prizes and gift vouchers that were on offer, encouraged the crowd to become overtly creative in their dances and performances. Singing of Christmas Carols by the teams from the crowd was one of the highlights of the event.

A good number of sponsors from around UAE and outside generously supported the event for the charity causes undertaken by the organizers, Mangalore Konkans Dubai. A spontaneous auction for novelties that was undertaken at the venue, succeeded in generating AED 125, 000, which stands as witness to the generous support from the community members for charitable causes.

NRE entrepreneur, Ronald Colaco, who is on a visit the UAE, also joined the Family Fiesta and contributed to the cause. Philanthropist Ivan Fernandes, Charles D'Souza and others too joined the cause.

Anil Menezes ably compered the event.

Excellent program supported by wonderful climate. The line standing near the bar counter reminded me our days in native place where we formed similar line to get the Sugar/Kerosine from society. Enjoyed every bit of the program and showers of blessing from above. If you want to enjoy any programs you should actively involve in every action. Like the one in the friday program were people were singing their own songs to dance while sound system gone off. Great day...great fun. Hats of to Mangalore Konkans

Great Show by the organizers Mangalore Konkans' Without a doubt the most professional of the Mangalorean organizations in Dubai for such events. They have inspired other organizations also to raise their level. The families had a great time. Kudos to the 3 persons who donated generously for a noble cause. Personally I found the Sri Lankan DJ the pick of the lot. Mangalore Konkans thank you for a job well done inspite of the trying circumstances.

No doubt, MK has put lot many efforts to the event, but I feel MK is capable of doing such shows in more professional way. For a show like this, you need a professional compere, who really keep the crowd on thier toes..and also you need better caterers and management while serving food.

First of all THANKS to the Konkans Dubai team for organising a great event like this which was mainly for the purpose of charity. A lot of needy people will receive help. We enjoyed the Family Fiesta to the fullest. There was real fun and enjoyment. The lunch was too delicious. The 'rain dance' was superb. The tableau and carols were also good and well organised. All this success was possible only coz of the organisers, sponsors, doners n the well wishers. Hope to see the same spirit in future!!

Great going by Mangalore Konkans. Well done. Without any doubt, one of the finest family events organised by the Mangalore Konkans turned out to be extremely entertaining. In fact, by a strange coincidence even the weather cooperated with some fine cold drizzles which the crowd enjoyed to a great extent. It was almost like a 'rain dance' with such pleasant weather throughout. The young and old had a ball with the spirits high ! I personally felt the Sri Lankan band was really keen to impress with the DJ being very good. Somehow, the sound and the microphones were not upto the mark which meant that the carol singing got affected to a certain degree. The theme of Unity, Love, Peace etc. was well thought and congrats to whoever came up with the idea. Same with the bingo tickets where the sponsors and advertisers got their due. All in all, the festive atmosphere complete with the Christmas camaraderie was brilliant and the Mangalore Konkans deserve kudos for an event well handled. One surely cannot forget the mammoth support which came through NRI Ronald Colaco who along with Ivan and Charles ensured a cool collection of Dhs.125000.00 via the auction which summed up the success and purpose of the Family Fiesta organised by Mangalore Konkans. Congrats to the entire team of Mangalore Konkans.
