Dubai: Accounts Chargers Lift Inaugural NMC Alliance Cup Cricket

Dubai, Dec 7: The inaugural NMC Alliance Cup Cricket Tournament (T-10) held on the 38th UAE National Day at the Al Habtoor Softball Stadium, Dubai was won by Accounts Chargers – the Accounts & Audit Team of Dubai/NE who beat Deira Daredevils- the  Dubai NMC Hospital Team by 3 wickets in an action-packed final contested under floodlights.

Twelve teams representing various departments participated in the tournament and were divided into four groups with each team playing two games in a round-robin format in the league stage. Van Stars XI and Young & Cool qualified for the semi-finals from their respective groups winning both their matches easily while Accounts Chargers and Deira Daredevils qualified on better run-rates in tightly contested games.













In the semi-finals Deira Daredevils beat Young & Cool in a close match which went down to the last ball while Accounts Chargers had a facile win over Van Stars XI without losing any wicket.

Deira Daredevils batted first in the finals and found the going difficult against the accurate Chargers bowling supported by good catching and finished with 46 runs in their ten overs. Zahid shone with three wickets while Ramesh and Shaji picked up a couple each. Account Chargers went after the target earnestly but kept on losing wickets on a regular basis as Shaqeer, Iqbal and Rajesh picked up two wickets each. Patient and determined batting by Ansar and a quickfire knock of 12 runs from Man of the Final Sanjay Manayil helped Chargers edge past the target in the ninth over to upset the applecart of the Deira Daredevils. 

The glittering awards were given away by Mr. Vijayan Nambiar, COO of NMC Trading at an impressive post-match ceremony attended by R. Achar-Group Manager-Accounts (DXB/NE), K. Gopikumar-HR & Training Manager and Organising Committee members Nitish Shetty, Mohamed Lokhandwala, John Joseph, Sujit Rai, Girish Shetty, Feroz Khan, Ivan Tauro, Uday Suvarna, George Abraham, N.S. Patil and Asif Mohammed

Shaji Manikkambath of Accounts Chargers was adjudged Man of the Tournament for his rich haul of 10 wickets while  Sanjay Manayil of Accounts Chargers was adjudicated as the Best Batsman of the Tournament scoring 74 runs in the tournament. Mehboob Ali of Young & Cool won the Best Bowler of the Tournament and Shinoj Kadavoth of Deira Daredevils won the Best Fielder of the Tournament award.

Ivan Tauro, Mr. G. Ramkumar and Ms. Daisee conducted the day’s proceedings and kept the gathering informed and entertained with updates and commentary. Additional reporting and ball by ball details were also provided by Mr. Ansar and Mr. Naveen.

The event conducted with the blessings and patronage of Managing Director & C.E.O. Padmashree Dr. B.R. Shetty under the auspices of NMC Trading was supported by Group units Neocare, Tasty, BiteRite, Food Factory, Foodlands, Creativeline, NMC Hospital and NMC partners Emami, Beiersdorf and Unijules.
