Udupi, Nov 24: Vandana from Tiruvanantapuram, Kerala, presented her Mohiniattam dance performance in front a packed crowd at Madhwa Mantap in Srikrishna Mutt here on the evening of Monday November 23.

Vandana, who was born with one leg, is popularly known as a ‘single-winged butterfly’ in Kerala. She has mastered the art of dancing with her lone leg without any adverse movements or losing her balance, since her childhood. Her performances have brought her love, respect, popularity and recognition not only in Kerala, but across several states.

The perfect dance movements by the danseuse provided proof of her single-minded devotion and dedication to the art. The audience, who expected a mediocre display of dancing skills from a girl with only one leg, was in utter disbelief, as Vandana moved with the grace, aplomb and ease, normally exhibited by expert dancers without her handicap.
