Mangalore: Catholic Sabha Rosario Cathedral Unit Celebrates Decennial Year

Mangalore, Nov 24: Rosario Cathedral unit of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh celebrated its decennial year on Sunday November 22. 

The function began with the eucharistic celebration at the cathedral. Fr Stany Tauro, founder spiritual director of Catholic Sabha unit was the main celebrant. Fr Stany Goveas, present spiritual director and vicar of the cathedral accompanied him.  

In the evening a cultural programme was held at Rosario cultural hall. Fr Goveas presided and Rohan Monteiro, proprietor, Property Real Estate was the chief guest. 

In his Presidential address, Fr Goveas asked the unit members to be more Catholic in action and in deed.














 

Rohan Monteiro of 'Mangalore Property', chief guest for the event, appreciated the good work that the Catholic Sabha was doing in the parish and offered his support for all the activities of the unit.  

Valerian C Pinto, vice-president of the Central Council highlighted the main functions of the Catholic Sabha and stressed the need for implementing the same in the parish for those who are in need.   

Walter C Pinto, vice-president of the Catholic Sabha Central Commitee, Deepak D’Souza, president of the Episcopal City Warado of Catholic Sabha, Felix Albuquerque, vice-president, Parish Pastoral Council of the cathedral were the guests of honour.

Antony D’Silva, president of the unit welcomed the gathering. Philomena Lobo, convenor of the celebration introduced all the guests to the audience. Ida Furtado, unit secretary presented the report of the past ten years. As the mark of the celebration, Fr Cyprian Coelho Memorial Education Fund was inaugurated in memory of late Fr Cyprian Coelho, former parish priest of the cathedral. Dolphy D’Souza highlighted the main features of the above fund.   

All the dignitaries and former presidents of the unit were honoured on the occasion. As a token of love and gratitude the donors of the function were also honoured. The prize distribution was also held for the winners of all the competitions that were held during the year. Michael Monteiro, treasurer of the unit proposed the vote of thanks. 

As the part of the function various cultural events such as dance, skits, action song and short comedy play “Hasthiche Thaanthi” was staged. More than 600 people witnessed the beautiful event.
