Abu Dhabi: Grand Event Marks End of Billawa Balaga’s 15th Anniversary Celebrations

Abu Dhabi, Nov 15: Billawara Balaga, Abu Dhabi, an association representing prestigious Billawa community of coastal Karnataka in Abu Dhabi for last 15 years marked the end of the year long celebrations with a grand closing ceremony held at Al Dhafra Hareb Hall here on Friday November 13.
A family get together attended by the Billawas all over UAE along with their friends, well wishers and other invitees was filled with fun, entertainment, comedy skits, music, spot prizes and much more exciting events. The event began at around 11.30 am followed by prayer by Jyothi Kiran.
Manohar Tonse, a noted personality in Abu Dhabi representing Kannadigas, who is also convenor of Billawara Balaga welcomed the gathering. He invited leaders of various Billawa community members to the stage and presented flower bouquet. Ashoka Anchan, president of Billawara Balaga, Dubai, Daya Kirodian, founder of Billawara Balaga Dubai, Saritha and Sandhya representing Billawara Mahila Balaga Dubai were called on the dais. P V Mohan, Senate member of Mangalore University was guest.
Billawara Balaga honoured Rajkumar, president of Gur Narayan Seva Samithi Bahrain, president of Gulf Billawas and a community leader from Bahrain. The balaga also honoured Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld for his achievement in bringing revolution in e-media and also forge ties between different communities. Both were presented shawls, fruits and citation. Jyothi Bangera readout the citation of Rajkumar, Manohar Tonse presented the shawl, Kishor Kotian presented memento and Kutty Poojary offered flowers.
Pradeep Kirodian readout citation of Walter Nandalike, Shankar Amin presented the shawl, Sudhir K presented memento and Dayanand Bangera presented the flower bouquet.
Both thanked Billawara Balaga for encouraging and honouring them.
A Kannada audio album comprising dasa songs, produced by Manohar Tonse, sung by Shyamala Prakash, umbai was released during the occasion. Jayanthi, who arrived from India for the occasion released the album.
Ocean Kids presented spectacular dance items. Highlight of the show was comedy skit, 'Podu Bujange' directed by Pradeep Kirdoian. Pradeep, Suresh Salian and Melwyn Fernandes were part of the cast. 'Kambla' presented by Kiran and troupe, Yakshagana 'Kamsavadhe' by Sudhakar Thumbe and group were successful in showcasing rich Tulu traditions.
Sponsors of the event were felicitated by offering flower bouquets. The prize winners in various games and competition conducted as part of the programme too were felicitated.

It can be recalled that, Billawara Balaga had organised a scholarship distribution event in Mangalore, helped hundred of poor children for their higher education.
