Mangalore, Nov 14: The Daijiworld Drawing Contest announced by Daijiworld Weekly on the occasion of ‘Children’s Day – 2009 attracted the students, teachers and parents alike across the city. Not only the parents thronged the offices in the city along with their children’s paintings but also the teachers and management’s of schools took special interest by encouraging their wards to participate in the contest. 

Majority of the contestants chose the former, though two optional themes such as ‘Life in a village’ and ‘India of my dreams’ were given to the participants. 

Canara English Higher Primary School at Dongerkeri, Mangalore in particular made special arrangement for students to draw paintings on their premises and also make it reach our offices through a few students. There were 21 entries from Canara group of schools alone. 

Rightly so, Canara group of schools have grabbed a lion’s share in the prizes as well. In all, they have secured eight prizes in two groups including three consolation prizes as mark of appreciation. The school has further arranged to hand over the awards to their winners during a Children’s Day ceremony today. 

Other schools in the city have also taken special initiative in this regard and quite many parents were anxious to know if this contest will be a regular event.

William Pais of Orchid Art Gallery and Jeevan A S, the city’s well known artist were the evaluators of this contest. The paintings of winners will be published in ‘Daijiworld Weekly’ dated Friday November 20.

    So beautiful! If I would have been judge I would have rated all of these under one rank...Superb! All of them are in one way or the other gives amazing thoughts of children, wonderfully crafted.
