Extension of Bangalore Train to Kannur to become Effective Soon - Minister

Extension of Bangalore Train to Kannur to become Effective Soon - Minister
Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Nov 3: Contradicting certain News Paper reports which had said that the night train to the city from Bangalore has started running up to Kannur since November 1, minister of state in the department of railways, E Ahamed, clarified that the date from which the train will start running to Kannur, would be announced soon.

The minister, who had been in the city on Monday November 2 to take part in a private function, clarified that he was unable to go into the details, as the election code of conduct was in force in Kannur at present. He was speaking to the reporters at the local railway station.

Earlier in the day, he held discussions with the railway officials at the railway station on various development works expected to be undertaken to upgrade the station. The commuters complained to the minister at the railway station, that the station lacks several facilities including shortage of seats for commuters and insufficient ticket counters.

I have fought with Railways & restored the halt at Mangalore Junction for the train Number 6518. I take the help of RTI Act & letter to Minister of Railways while doing so.

Considering the present size of the region's population and the increasing number of passengers, why not introduce a separate B'lore - Kannur train? This train need not touch Mangalore Central and may even be extended upto Kozhikode. While there is greater need to divert B'lore - M'lore train to Kundapur since the people residing in Udupi District do not have any train service to Bangalore.

How many crores are being spent by the Tourism Dept to popularise the coastal areas of Karnataka. Waste down the drain ( or in pockets). The one train that should have been called the Karnataka Mail or Express from Bangalore to Mangalore and then to all the coastal stations of Karnataka is now filled with Kerala bound passengers. Likewise the Matsyaandha Express from Mumbai to Mangalore is near impossible to get as Kerala bound passengers come to Mangalore and then take buses to their villages directly.( they have the Netravati but the overflow is too much). One should try getting a Tatkal berth on the latter train- even in an emergency the quota is filled up within 5 minutes so it shows the demand ( or the corruption of the scheme). Lets have point to point trains to evelop our state.

Train to Kannur is acceptable. The same Bangalore mangalore train need to be extended to Karwar. The Ministry, Government is ignoring the needs of the people of Coastal Karnatak.

The Train Number 6518 which presently runs from Mangalore Central to Yeshvanthapura is not stopping at Mangalore Junction. By doing this Railways is Grabbing Rs.12 from the passenger. Because Fare from Mangalore Junction to Bangalore City is Rs.212 where as it is Rs.224 from Mangalore Central. This unkind act of Railways should be stopped. The train No 6518 should continue to halt at Mangalore Junction. This is another part of Step Motherly Treatement by Our own Kanndiga Minsister Mr,Muniyapps. Good Work as usual Mr.Muniyappa, THE MINISTER FOR STATE, RAILWYAS

Since the train is not cancelled and it touches the Mangalore Central station I think the citizens should not complain. Instead they should bargain for extension of one portion of the train to Karwar. So in effect the Mangaloreans will get 3 trains One to Bangalore, One to Kannur and One to Karwar. Further they should bargain for the much published Shravanbalegola Passenger train which will absorb much of the rush to Hassan/Malnad regions. Let us hope more in the next budget. The local politicians should meet Minister Muniswamy and get more trains to the region in the next budget.

Hi Eulalia Dsouza, Bijai / Mangalore. For the convenience of Udupi / Kundapur passengers (additional 1hr15mts)the morning train to Bangalore can be extended provided it touches Mangalore Central. Wait, once Shravanbelogola is connected with Bangalore there will be more trains on this route as it will save atleast 1hr30mts & by that time the Ghat Section will get consolidated.

Where is our K.H.Muniyappa minister of state for Railways? Extension of Bangalore-Mangalore train to Kannur is okay. But this will result in reduction of berths available to Mangalore bound passengers. Is it not failure of Karnataka lobby?

As long as there is a direct Train between Mangalore & Bangalore, there should not be an issue. Let the Train go to Kannur from M'lore which is an additional benefit for the passengers commuting between Bangalore,M'lore and Kannur. One must acknowledge the benifits drawn from this Train rather than critisizing.

Guys let our ministers keep on fighting and very soon mangalore/udupi/kollur will be part of kerala as already the kerala lobby has achieved all the trains to stop at byndoor and only keralites travelling in matsyagandha or bangalore express it doesnt matter for people of mangalore as very soon we will be part of new state called kerala as these days we can only find keralites in and around mangalore and on all the trains originating from mangalore.

The present government in karnataka is interested making money from mines which Reddy brothers are providing, or making money provided from center for flood victims or fulfilling operation Kamala. BJP/VHP a fascist party wishes that Mangalore goes back to days of Stone Age where people use leaves as clothes, feathers as head wear and have VHP as high priests. BJP never has welfare of people in mind.

Mangalore would not have a railway station if not for the British who built it. Although British suppressed the freedom of Indians they also looked into welfare and developed Mangalore as a trade route. Congress also played with feeling of the people did not do much for DK hence the people of DK in future should elect representatives who aim for development regardless of party/religion or caste.

Let train services extend no problem. But pls look into following Alternaitves . 1) Night /Morning Train via arasikere should be started with immedieately with 7 days in week. 2) Let one more moring train from Bangalore to BAngalore star via Mysore. The reson why am giving much focus here is because most of the Middle class family prefer general Class. Also Rs 100 to bangalore to mangalore in general is much cheaper , Our local MLA & MPS are useless . Just for name sake they stared tarin via Mysore . It takes 13 Hours to reach mangalore . Actually we can have intercity train like huble State at 7.30 Am from Bangalore and reach MLr at 1.30 Mlr . Also 1.30 from Mlr & reach 8.30 to Bangalore. Since our local leaders are selfish in motive we are not getting best train services. I travell to my Native from Bangalore on alternative fridays & back top Blr on Monday.

These politicans are totally corrupt that they didnt even repair 48 Kms Gaht from Saeshpur to Gundya . Very shame on these politicians . Also 8 hours jorney is nw 12.30 hours & also it is not sure that you will the destination since the condition of road very very bad .Let thier family members travell inthe raod & understand the painful condition we are facing. So many accidnets are taking place and our MAngalore MP & MLAs are sleeping. Think they will wake up when it happens to them

This is surely NOT good news to us Mangaloreans. Why are these ministers / authorities bent upon taking our facilities and giving advantage to other states? Just one night train that we have for M'lore / B'lore & return, will now touch Kannur - Kerala? While our state leaders are busy fighting for safe guarding their seats of power, all these important issues are neglected royally. Why cant you extend this train up to Udupi / Kundapur / Bhatkal rather than Kannur - Kerala? Let us Kannadigas benefit than anybody else..
