Former Cricketer Wasim Akram's Wife Dies in Chennai

Chennai, Oct 25 (IANS) Huma Akram, wife of former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram, died at the Apollo Hospital here Sunday morning after battling for life for the past five days.

According to hospital officials, Huma breathed her last around 9.45 a.m.

Huma was suffering from sepsis (an inflammation of several tissues, including blood leading to kidney failure) and was admitted to Apollo Hospital Tuesday after developing complications mid-air while on her way to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore from Pakistan.

She was accompanied by Wasim Akram.

At Apollo Hospital, she was in the intensive care unit (ICU) since then and died Sunday without regaining consciousness.

Arrangements are being made to take her body back to Pakistan, the sources said.

Wasim Akram is one among the very few Good Pakistani citizens I am aware of. Akram is a fine human being. He got along well with Indians and also respected by Indian cricketers for his unbiased nature. After his retirement from cricket, he got more closer to Indians.

Wasim Akram...SWING OF SULTAN has lost his life partner.May God give him strength to bear this huge loss.According to me Akram was one of the Best Fast Bowlers in the world when he was playing.I saw him playing against India at Sharjah Stadium long back.Indian batsmen were clueless when he was bowling his deadly yorkers, inswingers. After getting retired from Intl cricket,he didn't leave cricket. He became famous cricket commentator. When India toured Australia,Akram taught some secret of swing bowling to Irfan Pathan.Pathan made full use of it against Australia. India had drawn test series with Aussies 1-1 and next series was against Pakistan in Pakistan. Pathan was the hero.India created history by beating Pakistan in their soil for the first time. Pakistan cricket Board, especially Javed Miandad criticised Akram for teaching secrets to Pathan. Akram said " I am a cricket lover and positive cricketer,if someone comes to me,then I will help" Yes..Akram is the Legend of Crikcet"
