Indian Cricket Club Launched in Kuwait

Kuwait, Oct 20: Friday October 16, 2009, was a special day for the Indians living in Kuwait and a historic moment for Kuwait’s cricket history, as a new cricket club with the name, Kuwait Indian Cricket Club (KICC), took birth on that day.
 
Even though this Club was officially founded that day, this team has been in existence since about the last two decades. Currently, the Club has 42 members. It has players who started playing 20 years back and continue playing for the Club. The significance of this Club lies in the fact that all the players are treated equally with respect and dignity. The club has players hailing from different parts of India.
 
The aim of inaugurating the Club was to attract more cricketing talent and to provide the cricket lovers from India, with an opportunity to continue playing cricket, even when they are away from home.










The inauguration ceremony of KICC started with a welcome address delivered by Ivan Lobo and Praveen D’souza. The chief guests of the ceremony, Richard Menezes, Stanly D’Souza, Satish Bhandary  and Victor Martis were invited to the dais for lighting the lamp.
 
After lighting the lamp, a working committee for the Club was formed unanimously. This working committee is for the year 2009 - 10. Following are the names of the office bearers, chosen for various posts of the Club.
 
President - Victor Martis
Vice-president - Vincent Menezes
Secretary - Naveen Monis
Asst Secretary - Praveen D'souza
Treasurer - Clive Rosario
Asst Treasurer - Jerry Kannath
Sports Secretary - Disney Mathias
Asst Sports Secretary - Antony Montero
Media Representative - Arun Noronha
Asst Media Representative - Ivan Lobo
Public Relations Officer - Pradeep Lewis
Public Relation  Officer - Sunil Mendonca
Asst Public Relations Officer - Lukas Pereira
Asst Public Relations Officer - Faizal Karel
Organizing Committee Members: Walter Ranger, Canute Aranha, Walter D'souza, Edward Lewis and Vivian Pinto.

After the working committee was formed, the president was asked to say a few words. He addressed all the Club members as ‘friends’ and thanked them for choosing him as the president. He exhorted the members to stay united and play cricket in the true spirit of the game and not to treat or take any incidents that might occur during the course of the Club activities from their personal viewpoint. He gave a brief history of the team. He thanked each and everyone for making this Club a reality. He also appreciated everyone’s efforts towards the team’s working and for their commitment towards the game. He wanted them to continue to display the same spirit in the coming days, months and years.

The ceremony concluded with a delicious breakfast. The whole programme was conducted by Ivan and Praveen.
 
Those who wish to be part of this Club can come to play with its members every Friday at 6:30am at the ground which is besides the ministry of education building, Salmiya, Kuwait, the Club said in a release..

    Thanks a lot for all the well-wishes. But its rather surprising that people make it a point to comment on trivial matters and try to get some sort of a hidden meaning to it. Either these people have no work or are ready to find a fault with everyone. Anyway, we have not formed this club to address our skeptics about the true goals of our club but we can do with the good wishes of all our supporters.

    Really it's nice to know that all konkan brother gettogether and formed KICC,but unsatisfactory thing is that the prisident's expression to stay united and play cricket in the true spirit of the game and not to treat or take any incidents that might occur during the course of the Club activities from their personal viewpoint. By this it is supecting that there is little bit mis-understanding among the members.
