Doha : MCA's Vocal Touch - a Fruitful Event

Doha : MCA's Vocal Touch - a Fruitful Event

Media Release

Doha, Oct 11: Mangalore Cultural Association organized the Vocal Touch – A voice workshop a first of its kind for Mangalorean Konkans residing in Qatar. It was an unforgettable experience for all the attendees – young & old. It proved tremendously beneficial for every one present mainly for singers as well as for speakers.

This workshop was presented by the dynamic Music Educator, Vocal Coach and Choral Director Joseph (Jossy) Moras (LTCL). His ability in this field of music is par excellence and laudable, which was appreciated by all present in the Grand Regency Hotel Meeting Hall. The first session began with the MCA anthem song followed by Welcome speech by the President Harry Lobo. Workshop coordinator Veena Pais introduced the presenter Jossie Moras to all participants. The session began at 3.30pm; Jossie Moras shared all the techniques and basic necessities which every singer should preserve. He taught certain exercises to enhance the quality of the voice. The knowledge exhibited by Jossie is commendable.  Overall it was a golden experience for the lucky ones present in the hall. 6 enthusiastic singers got a chance to sing and know their shortcomings and weakness in their performance. This could surely help them to improve in future.

After organizing successfully Gulf Voice of Mangalore last October MCA had decided that this Workshop is essential in Doha as there are lot of untrained voices which definitely needs guidance and training. Hence the first announcement of this workshop was made in May 2009 so that lot of talents could benefit out of this. The main intention behind this workshop is to bring awareness in our children and teenagers about the basic knowledge of singing, to bring out their real hidden talent, to help them gain more confidence, to learn techniques about presenting themselves on stage for a professional outcome. This opportunity proved to be a platform to give their best in the forthcoming Gulf Voice of Mangalore.

Certificate of participation was distributed to all participants by MCA advisory committee member, Wilfred Fernandes. MCA president Harry Lobo presented a memento to Jossy Moras. Jossy expressed his feelings that he was very happy about the participation of the audience and was ready to come again. He said that usually people think twice to come for a workshop thinking it may be a boring session. But he was happy that every one was listening eagerly and expecting more from him. Alwyn Almeida thanked everyone who helped to make this workshop a great success.  Arthur Pais was the master of the ceremony.

It was a feeling shared by many participants that they could have missed a golden opportunity had they not made up their mind to attend this workshop. They were thankful for this opportunity. As per the feedback received from the participants, they wanted more of this workshop and asked for a full day session next time.

The 3 hours spent listening to Jossy was just the beginning or could be said a trial to the music lovers of Doha. As promised by the MCA advisory committee members Felix Lobo and Wilfred Fernandes, this treat for the budding up singers especially the children and teenagers will continue in Doha. The assurance given by MCA is that in future this workshop conducted by Jossy Moras will be presented twice in a year in Qatar.

Mangalore Cultural Association, Qatar has always introduced creative and new ventures for the benefit of Mangalorean Konkans in Qatar. MCA intends that people especially children and teenagers should use these opportunities and take advantage of it. In the first week of April 2010, Doha Mangaloreans will experience the second Voice Workshop by Jossie Moras.

MCA thanks every participant for making this workshop successful.
