Jeddah, Oct 11: United Konkan Catholic Association (UKCA), Jeddah, a social organization of Catholics from Mangalore, celebrated its 15th anniversary in the city on Friday October 9, here.

The programme which began at 9.00 am lasted till dusk.

Various events were organized by the UKCA to mark its 15th annual day that was kicked off by Wilfred Menezes with his devotional fervour.

Dennis Menezes Balkunje gave an inspiring talk on leadership and also emphasized the need to bring to light those people who are still living in darkness and obscurity.

A brief felicitation programme was also conducted by the organizers to honour the founding members of the association—Walter Lewis Sastan, John Menezes Shankarpura, and Michael Gonsalves Kota.

Wilfred D’Souza, Kulshekar, president of UKCA, honoured them with bouquets of flowers.

Wilfred Menezes, Halealve-Kundapur, former president and present spiritual guide, presented a detailed report on the overall activities and thanked all who rendered service to the association.

Rony Mascarenhas Belman, mesmerized the audience with his hilarious jokes and games.

Fancy dress competition and a dance programme were also organized in Hindi and Konkani languages for the children, who amazed the audience with their talent.

Konkani and Hindi songs, Mangalorean ‘Baila’ dance, Yakshagana, ‘Anthakshari’ and other events were also held on the occasion.

Young Anisha Rodrigues won the prize in ‘Breaking the Pot’. Roshan Rodrigues (Madyanthar) delighted the audience with his melodious numbers.

3..cheers!!! to all the members & the leaders who organized the programme. It's wonderful opportunity for all of us to be a part of this celebration of 15 years anniversary. It was a well organized event with the heart touching message delivered by Mr. Dennis Menezes (Balkunje) on leadership role, as he highlighted that 'ONE WHO WANTED TO BE GREATEST SHOULD BE THE SERVENT OF MANKIND'. Today, many originations get closed due to the pride of leaders & CRITICISM by members WHO WANTED TO BE GREAT among all, as they want credit for everything. Hope UKCA will work towards attracting many more members in Jeddah, with its generous & selfless service to its community.
