Muscat: STS Wins Nawaras Ramadan Challengers’ Trophy – 2009

STS emerged as champions after winning the grand finale match over Friends XI and walking away with Nawaras Ramadan Challengers’ Trophy - 2009, recently.

The cricket finale were keenly contested between STS and Friends XI. STS reached grand finale after defeating Royal Challengers, Managalore and Friends XI reached semifinals after winning the match over Rangers XI.

Battling it out for first position in the tournament, the 40 teams played close games with a great sense of sportsmanship during the Ramadan Month. Among the teams, 18 cricket teams participated for the very first time in any of the tournament in Sultanate. 

Dr V S Kumar, general manager, Mustafa Sultan Exchange Company and Dad Mohammed, manager, OCT seeb Cricket team among others were present to witness the Grand Finale. Friends XI captain Tahir said, “We have formed our cricket team for the very first time and we reached the grand finale. It is due to the dedicated efforts of the team players, he said.
 
Best Omani batsman was Abbas from OCT Seeb team and best all rounder was Shahjahan from OCT Mabella team.
 
Prize Distribution

The prize distribution was held at the Bausher Hotel in Al Ghubra where Hussein Al Fadhil, corporate affairs manager, Nawras along with Anwar Salim Al Habsi were present.

Dr V S Kumar, Sanjay C Rao, brand manager, Oman Marketing & Services Company (Omasco) and Sher Mohammed (OCT Mabella team manager were present to give away the prizes to the top performers and individuals of winning and runners-up teams.
