Dubai, Sep 20: Milagreans Kallianpur, UAE celebrated the feast of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary at the Jackie Star Restaurant Hall, Quasis on Friday September 18.

The event began at 7:30 pm with a brief introduction and welcome speech by Melwyn Lewis. Flavia Mathais conducted a meaningful prayer service followed by offering of flowers to Mother Mary by the children. It was a beautiful moment touching hearts of everyone present, remembering the days back home of little children taking flowers to offer Mother Mary.

Numbers of games were conducted to entertain the crowd including an auction game which was the attraction of the day. Fr Basil Vas who is on a visit to UAE also joined the gathering. Fr Vas had started his priesthood at Milagres Church Kallianpur in 1985-87 and was grateful to God for giving him an opportunity to meet Milagreans on the 25th year of his Priesthood life.

Fr Vas led the gathering with his prayer and blessed the Food that was prepared by Jackie Star restaurant. He recalled all the blessings of Mother Milagres bestowed on us. He also prayed for all expatriates working in the UAE and asked Mother Mary’s blessings on each one at this tough time of financial crisis in the country.

In appreciation to the hard work of Fr Basil Vas, Milagreans decided to send the additional collection of the day to Fr Basil Vas in aid of his new mission towards starting a pre-university college in Bela Parish of Mangalore diocese.

On the occasion Ritson Lewis, one of the founder member and treasurer of Milagreans Gulf Association Dubai (MGAD) was given a send off as he was leaving UAE to Cypress. Fr Basil Vas gifted a Memento on behalf of all Milagreans to Ritson for the services that he has rendered towards success of Milagreans in UAE.

The event concluded with a sumptuous Kallianpurian style buffet and ended with singing of ‘Lavdate’ thanking God for making the day a beautiful and meaningful one. The programme was attended by nearly 100 Milagreans and well-wishers.

Wishing all members of Milagreans, Kallianpur and parishners a very happy Monti Feast (Nativity Feast), may Virgin Mary bless you all and shower her blessings on all. Very happy to see the celebration of Monti Feast being celebrated far from our native place, which reminded my childhood days. Milagreans Gulf Association, Dubai keep it up and I pray Virgin Mary give health and courage to celebrate Monti Feast in Dubai for many more years to come.
