Muscat, Sep 20: Weekends….Fridays…… wow is the feeling one gets as it’s that time of the week which everyone looks forward…to unwind and relax after a week of shuttling office and home. One also looks forward to meeting with friends and catching up with them. The Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish (MCCP – Sts. Peter and Paul Church – Ruwi) under the leadership of President, Suraj Rebello hosted a day for women integration with their theme line Stree : Ghoracho Divo, Sonvsaracho Uzvadd (Woman : Light of Home, Radiance of World), this year is dedicated to Women of the community and the world at large was indeed very prominent as it marked this event.

A much awaited event among the Mangaloreans came to light on 18th September 2009 titled “A Day for Women”. As the ladies walked to the hall, little Craig Mathias and Dale Dantis walked to them to hand over lovely red roses. The program commenced at 12:57 pm with the prayer lead by Cyprian Misquith, the current Honorary Treasurer of MCCP. The program was anchored by young energetic an upcoming talent Ajith Walder who currently holds the position of Sports Secretary. The President of MCCP Suraj Rebello welcomed the gathering enthusiastically creating a sense of energy in the audience. Lawrence Alva a prominent personality in the Mangalorean community was the toast master for the day and he wished and congratulated the ladies for their diversified role and their contribution to the society. Mrs. Gladys Misquith replied to the toast expressing her joy to become the part of this privileged event for the Mangalorean ladies. Apolinaris D’souza and Victoria Soares presented a song with the title “Stree Ghoracho Divo”.

Eagerly waited Chachi entered the hall hilariously with her amazing humorous twists and turns. The day was choc a bloc with games, dance and skits. The elegantly dressed Rainbow team consisting of Prescilla Machado, Monica Dantis, Jessy Pereira, Lavina D Sa, Lydia Sanctis, Mariette Fernandes and Reena Mathias, were then honored by Chachi to be leaders of the seven represented teams. The role of Chachi was enacted by Denzil Saldanha. The two skits were performed by Konkani Kalakar Muscat, enacted by Deepak D’souza, Lancy Lobo, Victor  Pais and Melwyn. The other two skits were staged by Shalet Noronha,  Helen Sequeira and Alwyn Pinto. A Dance was performed by Lionel Castelino and Sylvester Vaz. The members of Youth Ministry Bryan Monis and Mark of the Ruwi Parish came forward to entertain the ladies in a special way with their Hindi number.





































Speaking to some of the participants’ on their response to the event, Shanti D’ Souza expressed her gratitude to the MCCP president and the team for the wonderful event. She said this was first of its kind to be placed by MCCP and the day was truly memorable. Flavia D’ Souza said that she had enjoyed the event very well and it was truly a great time for the ladies.  She also conveyed that it was a wonderful thought of the President to have such an event exclusively for the ladies and took this opportunity to thank Suraj and his team for this wonderful show.

The early bird draw was conducted by Suraj Rebello and Ajit Walder and the lucky winners were picked by Stanley Fernandes and Henry Martis. Delicious lunch was prepared by Divine Restaurant. 

An educational session by Dr. (Mrs) Rajeev Maheshwari, practicing Gynecologist at the Apollo Hospital in Muscat conducted an awareness program on Breast Cancer. Several participants clarified their concerns and truly the session added meaning to the eventful day. 


The sponsors of this event were Rudolf Sanctis and Pinkybell Trading. The venue was decorated by Ivan Moras, Philomena Moras, Arun Pinto and Rony D Souza. Raffle draw was conducted by Stanley Fernandes and the ticket Muscat-Mangalore-Muscat was won by Mrs. Ancilla Fernandes.


It was a graceful event could be titled as “Streeyek Maan Mogacho Sanman MCCP thavn” (Honor to Ladies; Tribute with Love from MCCP). Truly this day was memorable one for all the lovely and beautiful ladies present. In fact, everyone was a winner.  

The goodies for the participants were sponsored by Muscat Pharmacy and Ramaniklal Kothari. Kudos to Suraj and his team.

    Congrats Mr.Suraj and team , indeed this was a great event where all ladies could express there talents,share there feelings with other ladies,etc, First time in the history of MCCP this type of program was organised . Good Job keep it up,I don,t know how many more records this committee will break.
