M'lore: Bishop Leads Celebration of Feast of Our Lady of Dolours, Releases Devotional Audio CD

Mangalore, Sep 16: The feast of Our Lady of Dolours was celebrated in the chapel at Bishop’s House here on Tuesday September 15. 
 
Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza celebrated the Holy Mass at 7.00 am, which was attended by the faithful in large numbers.



The feast was celebrated to reflect on Mother Mary’s seven sorrows and triumph in order to inspire the faithful to lead meaningful lives. 
 
Later Bishop Aloysius Paul D Souza released  `Karunalu Yesu’, audio compact disc (CD) comprising Christian Kannada devotional songs.
 
Speaking after releasing the audio CD, bishop appreciated the effort put in to bring out Christian devotional songs in Kannada. He observed that the work related to God always meets with success

Lyricist and producer of CD, Clifford Leo D’Souza said that it is the fourth CD produced by him and that all of these were CDs comprising Christian devotional songs. Songs are rendered by renowned playback singers like Rajesh Krishnan, Nandita, Hemanth, Chaitra, L N Shastri, Anuradha, Ajay Warrior and Sangeetha B, which is also its unique selling point, he added.

Fr Valerian Mendonca, Philomena Rita D’Souza and Cicilia D’Souza among others were present. The CD contains 14 songs rendered by 18 singers and 37 musicians have worked under composer Cajetan Dias to bring out the final product.

    If anyone can remember that some 50 years back,a mentally derailed man,looking like Swamy climbed up to the top of this Chapel,during morning mass. He started to climb the outside steps. He reached the bell and started to ring non stop for a while. I was in the church with my grand mother. We came out and saw this man sitting on the roof. People tried to influence Him to come down but He bacame wild. He started to throw the tiles towards people. After a while We young men from St. Aloysius joined together and planned to attack Him. Being A good sling shooter,they encouraged me to do the shooting and I did so. When He started to feel the shots,He became more wild and plucked Cement Ornaments and threw them down on Portico Roof. After finishing plucking the ornaments,and feeling our sling shots,He headed towards the Holy Cross. He forcibly plucked the Cross and threw it down on Portico Roof. Finally few brave men,climbed up the roof,hog tied Him and lowered Him with rope. The original cross was kept out side the Church in the garden and Prayers were held. After 50 years Catholic churches were attached again in 2008. This is the sad event of Church of Dolores,also know as "IRMIZ"(I may be wrong on Spelling)

    It would be appropriate on the Feast of Our Lady of Dolors, for the Bishop Aloysius Paul D Souza to seek the release of our youth who are still languishing in jail, defending our Churches being attacked by the Sangh Parivar exactly one year ago
