Kuwait: Indian Muslim Association(IMA) Conducts ‘Inter-religious’ Iftar Party

Kuwait, Sep 15: Indian Muslim Associations’ (IMA) Fahaheel & Abu-Halifa Units in cooperation with Ministry of Awqaf & Islamic Affairs organized an inter religious  Iftar Party where people from all friendly faiths from India were invited . The Iftar Party was arranged at Hotel Spice Island, Mangaf.

Abdul Aziz Al Duaij, Director of Ties, a new center for intercultural understanding presided over the function. In his Presidential speech Abdul Aziz Al-Duij, stressed the need for the development of the broader perspective with regard to human relations and concept called ‘Global Citizen’ instead resorting to ‘narrow minded’ approach.  He said that positive religious values play a paramount role in the development of ethical & moral values in any society.

BS Sharfuddin, KTV-2 anchor of the ‘After Iftar’ episodes, delivered a lecture on the subject of, “The Message of Ramadan”. He quoted the verse from the Qur’an, “O you who believe, fasting is decreed for you, as it was decreed for those before you, that you may attain God consciousness ".  Stressing the importance of taking heed from common teachings of various scriptures he quoted some common teaching from various scriptures.
















Sharfuddin further added that the fasting is a way of experiencing hunger and developing sympathy and compassion for the less fortunate and learning thankfulness and appreciation for abundant bounties of God. He asserted that the Ramadan is a ‘global season of virtues’ where more than a billion Muslims contribute positively towards human race. He further said that it is a time for inner reflection and mending of attitudes.

On this occasion the felicitation speeches were delivered by Seeta Ramayya of Tamilnad Engineers Forum and C. Rajan. They appreciated the inter-religious interaction initiated by IMA.

IMA President Mohammed Aslam was present during the occasion.The introductory address was delivered by IMA Secretary, Mohammed Nazeer Ahmad. He welcomed the guests, the participants and gave the brief introduction about the objectives & various activities of IMA.

The function started with the recitation of Holy Qur’an and its translation in English language by Fazlul Bari. Vote of thanks was given by Mushtaque Mahdi and the program was convened by Muzaffar Deshmukh. The program was attended by nearly hundred men & women, mainly Indian professionals. Dinner was arranged at the end of the program.

    As rightly pointed out by BS Sharfuddin Ramadan is indeed the global sesonof virtue. In fact virtues like tolerance, co-existence and love have a greater relevance in today''s world which stands deeply divided on the lines of religion and race. Nice speech aliyanka. Thufail
