Ranchi, Dec 23 (IANS): The BJP has managed to win on two of the 81 Assembly seats in Jharkhand while former ally AJSU bagged one as counting of votes was still on in the state, which went to polls in five phases from November 30 to December 20, on Monday.
The Bharatiya Janata Party wrested the Torpa seat from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and retained Khunti while the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) snatched Gomia from the JMM.
In Torpa, BJP's Koche Munda bagged 43,482 votes, defeating JMM's Sudeep Guria who got 33,852 votes, the Election Commission said.
BJP's Nilkanth Singh Munda secured 59,198 votes in Khunti constituency leaving JMM's Sushil Pahan (32,871 votes) way behind.
AJSU's Lambodar Mahto secured 71,859 votes in Gomia where JMM's Babita Devi was the runner up with 60,922 votes and Independent candidate Madhav Lal Singh was third with 26, 103 votes as third runner up leaving the BJP candidate Lakshman Kumar Nayak at fourth place with 18,011 votes.
