BSY conceives Two-child Norm after China Visit

Bangalore, Sep 9 (DHNS): Call it the China influence if you like. Fresh from his visit from the land of the Orient, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday wondered aloud whether a two-child norm would help the State’s development and progress.

For the past several years, China has been practising the one-child norm.

In his inaugural address at the state legislature session on Wednesday, Yeddyurappa said the issue could be taken up for discussion in the House.

“Will adopting the two-child norm and cutting government facilities to those who have more than two children help the State in any way? ” the chief minister asked in the course of his speech.

Development strategy

Evidently impressed by the Chinese strategy to contain population growth, he said China’s model was a part of a development strategy. In his hour-long speech, Yeddyurappa said he was open to ideas to improve the condition of villages and farmers.

The suggestions would be even incorporated while finalising the budget next year, he said. Reminiscing on his recent visit to China, the chief minister said rural life in that country was more comfortable and disciplined. The villagers were healthier and happier than their counterparts in India. Hitting back at the Opposition who had criticised his China trip, Yeddyurappa said:  “You had stated whether I had “jnanodaya” (enlightenment) in China. The answer is yes. I had !”.

His State has so many serious problems, but his focus has gone to "Made in China" population control. He could learn a big lesson after visiting China. Let him visit the former USSR republics, and they eat a lot of cabbage and drink Vodka. He can introduce that system too.

If our CM is following the Chinese system of 1 or 2 child policy, then we should also change our eating habits. In China eating Beef and Pork is universally followed and they do not have any food problem. Moreover, Chinese are physically stronger than Indians as is evident from the medals they won in the recent olympic games.

Are we ready for changing our eating habits? Lots of problems can easily be solved if we adopt many of Chinese policies. But unlike China, India is a democratic country and deeply religious. The parents should be educated to decide the size of the family. By enforcing any law will not help.

Yeddy''s intentions are very clear. He wants to single out a particular community which has generally more that 2 children and growing at a faster rate than other communities and it is not his vote bank! Come on Mr. Yeddy, you are wrong. Do not think silly. Your policy will not work. Think something constructive. India is not China.

Dear Yeddy I would like to know how many investor''s have you lured to invest in Karnataka. You are not aware of the seriousness of the drought that has affected the country. Anyway will see how you will tackle the situation or are you taking a another trip to states and lure investor''s from there.

Old wine in new bottle. India has adapted two child norm long back when CM was a teen. Just ask CM how many children he has fathered. When the supreme court has legalised same sex relations (gay/lesbian) I dont think this mantra of Yeddi will work and a day will come the government would start giving out awards to those who father/mother maximum number of children... Jai Karnataka.. Long live India...

CM is very shrewd. He is sure that by adopting two child norm, none of the ministers or MLAs, including himself, will get affected. All have crossed the age of reproduction. Good luck Yeddy, go ahead.

CM saab, you can compare china to our great india. china has solid constitution, where no one disagree, no one takes law in thier hand, and there is no moral police. china Govt takes care of each and every house hold for food distribution and also assures in getting job for all. you start now with providing job first, then try to imitate other silly issues.

Our CM had a nice holiday in China with Dim-sum dinner under the cost of tax payers in India. Chinese Investors are more keen on neighboring countries other than India for investments opportunities. Karnataka do not have the required infrastructure to attract Chinese investors. We do not have proper roads and motorways to connect cities.

The CM is not a qualified person to say that Karnataka should adopt 2 child policy. He had been to china but not able to understand how the 1 child policy is adopted in China. The CM has no capacity to understand the situation and circumstances that have made china to adopt 1 child policy.

China is not a democratic country. They have a very strange system of government which can reverse the 1 child policy rule to 2 or more child policy when there is disaster and many new born die in the earthquake. The China Government even paid the people to reverse the vasectomy surgery so that the couple can have another child. Do you think that all this is possible in corrupted governance in India?
