Udupi, Sep 9: Member of parliament from Udupi - Chikmagalur constituency, and state BJP president, D V Sadanand Gowda, requested the Muslims and the Christians to join the mainstream by joining hands with the BJP in the party’s efforts to develop the nation.
Speaking after inaugurating a drive to admit people belonging to the minority communities as members of the BJP at the district BJP office here on Monday September 7, Gowda accused the Congress Party, which has ruled the country the longest so far, of treating the minorities as mere vote bank. Instead of concentrating on achieving the social and academic development of Muslims, the Congress Party has always aimed at turning the minorities against the BJP for reaping political gains. Treating all the religions equally is one of the five principles adopted by the BJP. “We treat all the citizens of the country as the children of Mother India,” he stated.
State Haj Committee member and president of Udupi block BJP Minority Morcha, M Saleem Ambagilu, conducted the membership registration process. MLA K Raghupati Bhat, district Minority Morcha president Gerald Fernandes, leaders Katpady Shankar Poojary, K Udaykumar Shetty and others were present.
Morcha general secretary Arif Kallotte welcomed. Saiduddin Angaragundi proposed vote of thanks.
