Twitterati praise Navy personnel for their valour


New Delhi, Dec 4 (IANS):; Twitter users on Wednesday posted congratulatory messages on the occasion of Indian Navy Day, recalling the valour of the seamen in defending the country's coastline.

The Navy spokesperson wrote on the official Twitter handle @indiannavy: "Karachi was attacked again on December 7-8, 1971, this time from the West. #INSVinash fired four missiles which damaged MV Gulf Star, MV Harmatton & PN Tanker Dacca & left Kiamari oil fields ablaze."

"In remembrance of these valiant actions, December 4 was declared the Indian Navy Day."

Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda posted on @JPNadda: "On #IndianNavyDay, I salute our Navy personnel for their selfless service, dedication and matchless valour with which they serve and protect our coasts and motherland. The nation is proud of you."

The opposition Congress tweeted on its handle @INCIndia: "As we celebrate #IndianNavyDay, we honour the brave personnel who put everything aside to protect our motherland. It is their sacrifice that makes us all feel safe at home. Jai Hind."

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis wrote on @Dev_Fadnavis: "We salute the Naval warriors for serving our motherland by protecting the seas & keeping the boundaries safe! Greetings on the #IndianNavyDay!"

Celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor wrote on @SanjeevKapoor: "Saluting the courage of The Indian Navy. Silent, Strong & Swift. #IndianNavyDay".
