Konkani children’s film ‘Apsara Dhara’ premiere show held in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Nov 5: Konkani children’s film ‘Apsara Dhara’, premiere show was held in a grand Manner in Bengaluru on October 27 at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall to the packed house of more than 1,500 audience. Film producer and Director Dr Ramesh Kamath was honoured by Dr Dayananda Pai who presided the function. The show was sponsored by GSB Mitra Vrinda and it was a free show to all.

During Presidential address, Dr Dayananda pai told bluntly that hardly very few Konkani films are produced in India compared to Tulu Films. Tulu films are running to house full shows and also running for 100 days, whereas Konkani films hardly see the lime light. The main reason for Konkani Films are not commercially successful because Konkani People are selfish. He expressed his happiness about Dr Kamath producing Three Konkani Films out of Six Saraswath Konkani Films produced so far. He complemented Dr Ramesh Kamath and his film ‘Apsara Dhara’ got selected for this year’s 25th Kolkata International Film Festival.



Basti Vaman Shenoy of Konkani Viswa Kendra, Dr Jagadeesh Pai, president of Karnataka State Konkani Sahitya Academy, Payyanur Ramesh Pai, council member, Kendra Sahitya Academy, 'Tagaru' Kannada film heroine Manvitha Kamath, Mohini D Pai, patron, GSB Mahila Vrinda, senior film artiste Sharapanjara Shivaram , Suresh Mallya, motivator from Chennai, KJ Kamath of Kamath & Kamath, Srinivasappa, regional film censor officer, CEO of Lahari Audio Velu and other dignitaries were on dias spoke about greatness of Konkani language. A video clipping of Konkani pride and film star Anant Nag wishing the function in Konkani was screened at the start of Apsara Dhara screening.

Many stalwarts like Venkatesh Baliga, editor of Kodial Khabar, Abdul Wazid, editor of National Weekly Deccan Front, MG Srinivas, hero of award winning movie ‘Ranganayaki’, film director Sudhir Shanbhag, radio jockey Nikitha Kini, journalist Venkatesh Pai, film directors Rajesh Murthy and Praveen Nayak and so many popular personalities from different walks of life attended the function. All artistes, technicians, sponsors of ‘Apsara Dhara’, were felicitated by guests of honour.

Advocate Sudhakar Pai compered the entire programme and president of GSB Mitra Vrinda P Rohidas Nayak concluded the programme with vote of thanks.
