Kannada Version of ‘Nandadeepa’ to Be Staged in Metro

The ‘muhurat’ of Kannada play ‘Nandadeepa’,  translated from Konkani,  which finds an entry in the ‘Limca Book of Records’, was held at the Kannada Kala Kendra office located at Sion recently by veteran dramatist and Karnataka Sangh vice-president Bharat Kumar Polipu, by lighting the lamp. 
 


Polipu, speaking on the occasion, said that it’s at an opportune time that Kannada Kala Kendra has made arrangements to stage ‘Nandadeepa’ as the staging of Kannada plays in the metro has declined significantly leaving theatre enthusiasts without any entertainment. 

He also expressed the hope that the play would see the same success as it did in Konkani.
 
Kannada Kala Kendra president Balachandra B Rao, Chandrashekar Shenoy, wh translated ‘Nandadeepa’ into Konkani from the original in Marathi and directed it, Triveni Kala Sangama member and Konkani dramatist Kamalaksha Saraf, popular drama director Narayan Shetty Nandalike, Ashok Pakkala, Shantaram Pundalik, and Anantaraya Kini were present on the occasion.
 
The play has been translated into Kannada by Kamalaksha Saraf.  It will be premiered in October under the direction of Kannada Kala Kendra president, writer, and director Balachandra Rao.
