Indian Shuttlers Make Impressive Start in Junior Asian Meet

New Delhi, Jul 16: Indian shuttlers made an impressive start to their campaign in Asian Junior Badminton championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In the girl's singles, P. C. Thulasi, Rane Saili and N. Sikki Reddy advanced to the second round while H.S. Prannoy cleared the first round hurdle in boys singles.

Thulasi, the current national runner-up, pulled off a 21-16, 21-18 victory over Korean Lee So Hee.

Saili thrashed Filipchuk Ilyana of Kazakhstan 21-4, 21-4 while N. Sikki Reddy defeated Chehera Lashini of Sri lanka 21-7, 21-10.

P.V. Sindhu lost to Malaysian Ng Florah Siew Fong 20-22, 20-22.

In the men's singles, H.S. Prannoy beat Fayaz Ismail of Maldives 21-5, 21-8 in the first round.

Sai Praneet, seeded fourth, Sumeeth Reddy and Naqvi Eshan have got a bye in the first round.

Praneet will meet Chinese Li Yisheng while Sumeeth will take on Huynh Vinh of Vietnam in the second round.

Naqvi Eshan will face second seed Le Ha Anh of Vietnam.
