Tulu blockbuster ‘Girgit’ sets another record – Into fourth week in Dubai

Dubai, Sep 11: Tulu blockbuster film ‘Girgit’ has set another record. The film is into its fourth week of running in Dubai.

The film will be screened at Novo Cinemas, Ibn Batuta Mall from September 12 to 18. Two shows at 1.45 pm and 11 pm daily.

The film which released on August 23, earned over Rs one crore in its first week run at theatres. It became the first film from Coastalwood to do earn such an amount in a very short period of time.

‘Girgit’ is the first Tulu film to release simultaneously in Coastal Karnataka and Gulf countries. The film released at 14 theatres across UAE, Oman and Qatar.

‘Girgit’ is directed by Coastalwood and Sandalwood actor Roopesh Shetty and Rakesh. Roopesh Shetty and Shilpa Shetty are playing the lead in the film. Naveen D Padil, Aravind Bolar, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Umesh Mijar and others are in the cast.

It has story and script by Roopesh Shetty and Keerthan Bhandary. Joel Rebello and Darrel Mascarenhas have provided music. Prasanna Shetty Bailur has provided dialogues. The film produced by Manjunath Attavar and co-produced by Deekshit Alva. Sound effects was handled by Roger Loren. It is produced under the banner R S Cinemas.

    Girgit was not just a tulu movie, for the first in the history of tulu cinema. Girgit which made whopping 3.5 crores in just 3 weeks after its release , the only Tulu cinema which made the Rich and poor .. Hindus, Muslim and christen family's came out with groups to watch this movie, this support of tulwas gave a huge success and boost to this movie.... the first movie without vulgar comedy gave a positive respond to all Mangaloreans ... I would say it was Girgit festival across DK.. never seen people standing in Q for all the shows across Mangalore , jyothis theatre got its charm back on its final days before it gets demolished .... all the best team Girgit for making mangaloreans watch for the first time in such a massive numbers
