Mangalore, Jun 25: Kartik Shetty, the main lead of the new Kannada release, 'Yuva' has all the qualities that will make him a successful hero in the days to come. He is sure to be offered more films and thus carve a niche in the film industry, said Cheetah Yajnesh Shetty, Bollywood’s famous action director.

Addressing media persons on Thursday, June 25, Yajnesh referring to Kartik, who he has mentored in martial art training at Mumbai, said that through this movie yet another promising new face from undivided Dakshina Kannada has been introduced to Kannada filmdom. He has been absolutely brilliant in the stunt scenes which he performed without any double, said Yajnesh, who is also the action director of the movie. He has a body language that is suitable for any kind of roles, he added.

Yajnesh speaking about the boy’s foray into the Kannada movie industry said that Kartik was selected by K Narendra Babu, the film’s director after he spotted him in Yajnesh’s martial art class. Babu has earlier directed movies, O Gulabi and Pallakki. I too was roped in as action director, he added. Explaining about a thrilling stunt sequence in the movie, Yajnesh said that Kartik has left behind few of the noted heroes in the movie industry by acting fearlessly in an action sequence even the seasoned actors shy away from.

Gurukiran, the movie’s music director said that the movie has been in theatres since last three weeks after being released on June 5 and has been well received by the audience. Karthik thus has proved his mettle in his debut movie itself and he will sustain for long in the industry, he predicted. Though this year has not been good for Sandalwood so far with only three to four movies proclaimed hits, the enthusiastic response for Yuva from the day one is encouraging. I have also given Chetana Acharya, who is basically from Tulunadu a chance to sing for this movie, he said.

However, Kartik was conspicuous by his absence at the press meet. Tulu drama director Vijay Kumar Kodialbail and art patron Karnoor Mohan Rai were present.

About Tulunadu’s very own Kartik

Prajwal Shetty rechristened as Kartik Shetty is the son of entrepreneur Vijay Shetty and Sulatha Shetty based in Mumbai. However, Kartik hails from Tulunadu’s Kadike in Nakre, Karkala.

Though a debutant he is not new to the industry. He began his formal training in theatre, dance, karate and horse riding at the age of seven under Prakash Shetty, who owns Chandra Prakash Theatres in Mumbai. Later, he was also trained in western dance at the dance academy of Raval Saxena, Bollywood’s famous artiste. He also worked as assistant director under Hindi film director Mahesh Manjrekar of Vaastav fame.

He further has equipped himself of training required for an actor from Digital Academy, Andheri, Mumbai and with training on actions in films by Kambaat. He has also to his credit holding the director’s mantle for Marathi film, Bhakti Heech Khaari Shakti starring Ashok Saraf and Alka Kubal in 2007.
