MEDIA RELEASE:

Dubai, Jun 9:  After organizing a successful first ever indoor sports tournament last year, SMKC, the premier charity organization affiliated to St.Mary’s Church, Dubai is pleased to announce the indoor cricket and throwball tournament to be held on Friday, the 26th June, 2009 at Insports, Dubai. Play will resume at 10 am sharp. Lunch will be provided to the playing teams. Fr Fredrick D’Souza, Spiritual Director, Boniface Carlo, Main Co-ordinator, Noel Mascarenhas, Advisor  along with sports organizing committee of SMKC requests the pleasure of all cricket and throw ball lovers to come in large numbers and cheer the playing teams. SMKC is pleased to inform that some generous good hearted sports lovers have come forward to sponsor the tournament. 


Registration for the cricket tournament will close as soon as registration for the first 12 team is received.

Registration will be accepted by  e mail only. No Telephone calls will be entertained.

Team registration will be on first come first served basis  and the last date for registration will be 17th June, 2009.  Draw will be held for cricket and throw ball teams at Winny’s Restaurant on 19th June, 09 (Friday) sharp at 6 pm. Teams confirmed for the tournament will be notified by phone/email. Please ensure that captain/team representative is present for the draw.

SMKC sports tournament will be led by the following  sports committee :

 Rules of the game:

Cricket:-

  • Tounament is open to all
  • Age limit – 14 years and above.
  • Game will be played on Eight overs format
  • There will be a maximum of  12 teams for the tournament and it will be chosen on first come first basis
  • There will be maximum of 8 players in each team (no less than six players) and two substitutes
  • All the playing equipments will be provided by the tournament organizers.
  • Rule book will be provided to each playing team and the game will be conducted as per the rule book.
  • There will a winner and runners up trophy,  Player of the tournament, Best bowler & Best Batsman prize.
  • Each playing team will wear  same colour T-shirt and sports shoes.
  • Rules and regulations will be administered by Insports. Decision of umpire is final and no dispute will be entertained by the organizers(SMKC-Dubai)
  • Registration fee AED 200.00 per team
     

THROWBALL:

  • There will be a maximum of six players in each team and two substitutes.
  • Rule book will be provided to each playing team and the game will be conducted as per the rule book
  • All the playing equipments will be provided by the tournament organizers
  • Each playing team will wear  same colour T-shirt and sports shoes.
  • There will be a winner & runners up trophy & player of the tournament prize.
  • Rules and regulations will be administered by Insports. Decision of umpire is final and no dispute will be entertained by the organizers(SMKC-Dubai)
  • Registration fee AED 200.00 per team
  • Sports organizing committee reserve the right to cancel the tournament if there are less than 4 participating teams.
