Udupi, Jun 4: The skies over the Arabian Sea along the western coast at Kaup, near here, were enveloped with thick rainy clouds on Wednesday June 3 evening, signaling the timely arrival of the monsoon.

Thunder and lightning accompanied the rain clouds.

Cloudy weather with widespread showers has been witnessed in the coastal district, especially in the evenings, over the past few days.  The turbulent sea with rising tidal waves has caused the locals to stay away from the sea shore.

Large waves lashed the coast causing sea erosion which in turned has threatened people of the fishermen community living close to the sea shore.

The Kaup sea shore with its golden, sandy, beach was deserted though it is a popular spot with tourists and locals who throng to view the sunset most days.

Meanwhile, the farming paternity is gearing up for intensive agricultural activities by gathering all their resources as the monsoon is likely to hit the coastal district with full force any day now.
