Bahrain: Kudlotsava-2009 – Baptist Lobo Trophy at Stake for Ladies’ Throwball

Bahrain, Jun 3: The final leg of the sports events for the Kudlotsava-2009 organized by the Mangalore Cultural and Charitable Association the ladies throwball tournament for the Baptist Lobo Memorial Trophy which will be held at the Indian Club premises from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm on Friday June 5, 2009, the grand finale day of the Kudlotsava 2009 events.

This throwball tournament will showcase 2 teams from Kuwait, 1 team from Qatar and 4 teams from Bahrain all players hailing from the Kudla belt in Karnataka.    This throwball event has adapted the famous IPL format. Hence it is aptly called the KPL (Kudlotsava Premier League) where all the teams will play against each other and the two teams gaining the highest points will be pitted against each other for the final round in a best of three sets at 4.00 pm.   The winning team will be awarded the Baptist Lobo Memorial Trophy and other valuable prizes in the presence of VVIPs and ministers from Karnataka who will specially arrive for the grand finale cultural show to take place later in the day at the Delmon International Hotel Poolside.

This event at the Indian Club premises will have a number of added attractions.        Bahrain’s famous Police Band will showcase their musical talents entertaining the audience.     The Indian School Band comprising Indian children will add to the musical wizardry, entertaining the players and audience with their renditions.   Besides, to rock the throwball enthusiasts, Bahrain’s famous DJ Avi will be spinning choicest music discs to rhythmically resonate within the Indian Club campus.    The programme will surely be a day out with fun and frolic for the enthusiasts and the throwball tournament participants.

Another added attraction is the presence of young teenaged cheergirls from the Kudlotsava 2009 Princess and the Boogie-Woogie Contests who would be serenading the grounds with glittering pong-pongs and their favourite dance steps to the tune of music.

After the Throwball Tournament, the finals of the 7-a-side Ladies Cricket Tournament between the Bunts Bahrain and Kannada Sangha teams will take place at 5.00 pm..    This would be an interesting match to watch!   The winning team will walk away with the Kudlotsava 2009 Ladies Cricket Trophy and other cash and sponsored prizes.

The entrance for the throwball enthusiasts to watch the programme is complimentary and there is no entry fee for participants.

The chief coordinator for throwball tournament is the sports secretary of the MCCA, Ramesh, capably assisted by other coordinators Pradeep Shetty, Arun Shetty and Pramila.
 
The main sponsors for the throwball event are the Al Jazira Group.  Other sponsors are Etisalcom, KIMS Bahrain Medical Center, Bahrain Financing Co., IPS Trade, Prudential Management & Marketing, Ford, Johnson & Johnson and many other well-wishers and supporters of the Kudlotsava 2009 paraphernalia.
