Muscat, May 24: Karnataka Wing of The Indian Social Club, Muscat, Oman recently organized a day-out programme for its members and their families at the multipurpose hall, Higher College of Technology, Al Khuwair with a primary intention to introduce the new committee to its members and also the existing/newly registered members to each other. The programme was attended by more than four hundred people including one hundred and twenty children of all age groups and sixty new members.
Starting with the welcome speech, the new convener Yogananda, introduced his team of newly-elected committee members of ISC Karnataka Wing to the audience, viz, Ramesh Bangalore, co-convener, Renuka Murthy, treasurer, Vani Bhagavath, in-house programme coordinator, Prakash Naik, social and cultural activities coordinator, S D T Prasad, sports activities coordinator, Vijay Kumar, literary and humanitarian activities coordinator and Shankar Nagaraj, administration coordinator.
During the introduction programme each member was introduced to one another in an attempt to develop a unique togetherness and belongingness among all. The introduction programme was conducted in a way to entertain the overwhelming crowd in the auditorium and also to briefly unveil the vision and aspirations of the ISC KW Committee.
The variety entertainment programme started with a prayer song by the members, viz, “Apaarakeerthi Galisi Mereva Bhavya Naadidu” the famous patriotic song praising the glory of the mother land Karnataka. Participants were Karunakar Rao, Ashok Kotian, Prakash Naik, Raviprakash, Subramanya Raju. Tiny tots, Amulya Ravi and Ananya Ravi presented a crowd-pulling Hindi dance number “Dolaare Dola”. Instrumental music extravaganza was presented by the children’s group comprising Priya Pai, Pooja Pai, Ashish, Sai Deepak, Varun and Santrupth. A beautiful medley of foot-tapping Hindi songs was presented by Priya Pai and Divya Kotian (who were also one of the finalists in the recently held Muscat Idol Singing Competition). To these hot numbers some of the members couldn’t control themselves from dancing. Some more popular Hindi / Kannada songs were presented by Sumana, Saakshi Bhagavath, Nutan Bhat, Preeti, and Praveen.
Games organized for children did enthrall them. A quiz designed by the co-convener B A Ramesh to introduce personalities, monuments and tourist places of Karnataka was well-received and enjoyed. The introduction and other events of the day were nicely coordinated and conducted by the comperes Anil Kumar and Arun Sripathi.
The forthcoming activities of the Karnataka Wing were announced and a vote of thanks was delivered by the co-convener to express the gratitude and thankfulness towards the sponsors and to all those who helped directly or indirectly for the success of the well-knitted programme. A sumptuous South Indian lunch and refreshments were served to the attendees. The day-long programme finally concluded with a tambola game and attractive prizes were given away to the winners. The prizes were sponsored by Bank Muscat and refreshments were sponsored by IFFCO, Khimji Ramdas, Muscat Pharmacy and Enhance Oman and the plastic disposable utility items were sponsored by Oman Plastic Industries.
